Sidey was very poor by his standards.
Langdon though one of our best across the 4 quarters.
We lost the game in the 2nd quarter IMO when we dominated forward half possession for large periods but couldn't find a clear ball at ground level and Cox was still a non event in the air.
Anyway that was then and now is about to begin. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

The 2 biggest turning points in the game were still langdons 2 brain fart's but at the end of the day it took a very good kick from the boundary (when we should have got a free for Maynard being held away from the contest and Sheed playing on) that beat us
Our dominance basically stopped when Langdon couldn't find a way to knock the ball across the line from 2 inches away
5 goals up to 17 points up in the blink of a eye on 1 massive mistake |
I still say it was kicking in danger, and a free to Langdon.
But those pox maggots were catatonic about getting the Weasels back into the game by then.... _________________ M I L L A N E 4 2 forever |

Anybody want to buy the 2010 drawn grandfinal DVD? Still sealed in the plastic wrapper, never opened or watched.
If I had a DVD of the 2018 GF it would be in the same nick. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

I shy away from viewing any of the games we don't win. Highlights maybe, but finals and GF defeats are another beast entirely.
From seeing a 7 year old seeing us lose the 77 Replay and every GF loss since, i think i have PTSD when it comes to GF losses.
As great as the season progression was in 2018, it ended up the same ol' story. This year would be the first time since 1952 where we lost a GF and then to win it next year. Come on Pies...#16 in 19 _________________ Buzz

I can’t even watch those little celebration flashes without going from 0-60 in 2 sec flat. It just pisses me off so bad. _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

Will never watch it again, being there was bad enough, the last 5 minutes were agony.
Over the years, the pain of lost Grand Finals has dulled a little (other than 1970 obviously). But this one wont.
I know they played better than us for the last 3 quarters, and could have sown up the game earlier, but they didn't. Every time they looked like running away with it, we dug deeper & counter punched. The players were magnificent, every one of them. This one, more than any other, I am gutted for the players. _________________ I hold a cup of wisdom, but there is nothing within. |

That's a good summary of it. I think our loss can be attributed to us losing the midfield battle rather than the Eagles forwards dominating.
Our defence held up remarkably well, but it was noticeable in the final ten minutes of the last quarter that we struggled to get the ball past through the middle of the ground. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

Gonna be a long season. We'll be reminded of the pain until the Eagles are no longer reigning premiers. A GF loss is painful for 12 months.

I will never watch a losing grand final - never have and never will.
I am still trying to get over 1977.
I have parked 1979, 1981, 2002, 2011 and 2018 and will deal with them once I get over 1977. |

Same here, yep, I would rather slide down a forty foot razor blade, using my balls as brakes, than watch that vile game, ever. NO way Jose. No way. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.
