I would suggest that Stalin, Pol Pot and Mao were just as fascist as Hitler and Franco...just cause you slap the word socialist in the title, doesn't change the content.

Surprised it's taken this long for a reprisal against Islamic attacks, also surprised it was in NZ and not the UK or Germany. It's a stupid, counterproductive response. I'll be totally unsurprised at the dozens of reprisal attacks against the West to follow. I'm really hoping this isn't the first shot back in a broader war, because conflicts like this (think The Troubles in Northern Ireland) are nothing but meat grinders that achieve nothing but death. They kill some of ours, we kill some of theirs and on and on and on and those in power stay in power.
Talk of tightening gun laws is political opportunism at its worst, FFS the second mosque was saved by a dude with a gun. Gun control means only the criminal has guns. I mean this guy committed 40 murders, does anyone think he'd baulk at illegally obtaining a weapon? As he said he WANTS to force gun control, he could've just as easily used a bomb or truck. |

One of a number of critical problems with the crackpot white supremacist world view is ignoring the truth that the ones who these nutters killed were ours. One has to start from the proposition that these poor murdered people were actually the enemy living amongst us in order to hold the despicable opinion that this is somehow a reprisal by some of "us" against "them". It's not. It isn't a "war" - it's just shooting innocent fish in a barrel with high-powered weaponry.
The problem with nutters like these shooters is that they are so extroverted. Better for everyone if they'd just accept that they are losers, have nothing to offer the world except future fertiliser, dug a deep hole in a vegetable field, stood in it and shot themselves, instead of inoffensive, law-abiding people. |

Not really, I'm not on any side. You need opposites to get harmony. Yin and Yang. So I'm part black, part white and mostly grey. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Was the "dude" armed with a semi-automatic rifle?
Probably not and no one is suggesting that all guns are to be made illegal but predictably that is where the right wing argument heads straight to.
If anyone is still of the belief that weapons designed for military use should be in civilian hands then they must be made to watch the video of this massacre. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Those poor murdered people were innocent people going about their business who were murdered by an extremist. Just like the victims of extreme Islamic terrorism were and all the people and children killed in mass shootings in the USA. Unfortunately, unlike most of the USA shootings, the others were victims of repugnant ideology.
Make no mistake, those onboard with ISIS and it's ilk would be applauding this tragedy. It is a war, and while the vast majority of us are non participants we are the targets.

He wasn't extroverted. Neither was martin Bryant or Julian Knight. Beware the quiet withdrawn introvert with delusions of adequacy let alone grandeur. Extroverts are quite easy to deal with, as annoying as they can be. Just use attention, which is the drug they crave, like a dog trainer uses treats to train a dog. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

I did some reading on NZ gun laws as soon as I became aware of this tragedy. They have a special category for military style semi autos but, to be frank, the distinction they make between military style semi autos and regular semi autos is bullshit and cosmetic. This guy was able to buy semi auto rifles with the lowest category of shooters licence, legally. FMD he wasn't even smart enough to be able to expand the magazine capacity from the photos I've seen, so he did all this with perfectly legal weaponry which were based on military weapons.
There is nothing in New Zealand that needs a 7.62mm bullet to put it down, except maybe a maori on PCP, so there is zero need for semi autos or high calibre weapons there. I predict they will do a copy and paste of Howards gun laws, and good on them IMHO. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

People are radicalised by hate speech. Doesn't matter what colour or creed they are. It's hate speech that needs to be eliminated. 'Fighting back' means you just become what you are hating in the first place, a killer of innocents, a terror creator, a terror-ist. _________________ Get back on top. |
