Solid hit out peeps, that's what we wanted.
Freo's inaccuracy at goal probably killed their momentum, not that it matters.
Looks like the work load got shared, and that's a critical system that served us very well in 2018.
No injuries sustained, we deserve that at least.
Now get plenty of water back into their bodies immediately! _________________ M I L L A N E 4 2 forever |

Some handy recruits in Moore, Billy and Beams. _________________ Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy. |

Yeah, good hitout and for me the best part was seeing Billy and Darcy play with freedom. Those 2 alone are the difference between runners up and a premiership team.
Stevo shows no sign of second year blues
Tyler Brown is coming on. Might take some time but the finished product should be special.
Daics has been on the beach weights and has some physical intensity he didn't have last year to go with his undoubted skill. He looks fitter, stronger and determined. (boner alert)
Roughead down back with darcy makes our backline look so much better
We only had something like 9 players from the grand final team playing, we have some serious depth both now and in development.
Very positive.

Good work out in the 40 degree heat that should have favoured Freo, especially in the last quarter when Freo got within a goal of us, but couldn’t go on. Aish held our backline together in the absence of Maynard and Langdon marked everything in sight. Moore had a better second half while Crisp slowly worked himself into the game.
Tyler Brown is a work in progress. He needs to play around the ball but until he puts on a bit of weight the opposition mids will throw him to the ground. Mihocek and Stephenson continued on from last year and Elliot did some beautiful things to show us why we missed him last year.
IQ will obviously start off in the VFL this year. He won’t want to watch a replay of the Freo game but since it was a meaningless game he won’t mind how he played. His coaches will tell him it only gets better from here. Nathan Murphy was very solid. He has the potential to play as a CHB releasing Langdon to the flanks.
Overall a really good effort. Still a few things to sort out and the starting positions in the 50m arc needs more work. We don’t want to be giving away frees in the centre of the ground. |

-Phillip's. Jeez didnt th I'll no he had that much of it.
-Mihocek looks good. No superstar. But plays a solid role and contributes at each contest.
-Stevenson and Jamie look dangerous. Add deGoey WHEand Cox. It's a dangerous forward line.
-Murphy is a bit of a worry by foot. Does everything else well. |

Incredible how much muscle he has put on! He looks in great nick. Looking forward to a huge improvement from him this year, which could make him a bona fide best 22.
When they were first recruited to the Pies, I always thought of Josh Thomas and Billy as "twins". They looked so similar in stature, with similar face structure and hair styles. Billy looks a bit more like a mini-bull these days, but it was really pleasing to see them both playing together again and both doing well. Amazing how things can pan out. |

Daicos gets in the right spots but often gets ignored. They finally used him as a link up player in the final term and he showed his sublime skills. Handy depth if needed, like last season, and pushing for first 22 if he replicated that last quarter through all four.
Tyler Brown has that certain ‘it’. I think he’s good things to make it. His brother needs to find strength and penetration in his release handballs when tackled...currently the ball bobbles and gets taken away by the opposition.
Elliott is just a freak. Football Gods, please leave him alone. Pretty effing please. Ditto Moore.
Backline is a worry still. Desperately need Maynard, Howe, Dunn and Schaz back.
Missing: Cox, Adams, Treloar, Maynard, Howe, JDG, WHE, Dunn, Schaz, Wells*, from our most talented line up (I might have missed more). Exciting times ahead, especially if we stay injury free (which we won’t). _________________ Est. 2002 |

I think we had 12 out there today who were playing in the 2018 GF (Langdon, Crisp, Varcoe, Pendles, Phillips, Cek, Thomas, Stevo, Grundy, Sidey, Aish and Greenwood). Of the guys who weren't out there today who played in the GF, WHE, JDG, Treloar, Cox, Maynard, Howe, Adams and Sier can all improve the quality on the park. |

Some good signs there.
A number of good players including the Brown boys.
Stevo has some great pace.
Thomas did well .....got the ball a lot.
Watched Quaynor last week and this week.
He needs some decent time in the VFL.
Moore looks better down back, but sometimes doesn't cover his man.
Still wonder about Reid going forward full time.
See ya in Moe next week. |
