AUSTRALIAN chairman of selectors Trevor Hohns joined the growing chorus of doubters over Glenn McGrath's ability to prove his fitness for the coming Test cricket series against Sri Lanka.

McGrath, who turned 34 yesterday, has not played a Test since the July series against Bangladesh because of ankle trouble and is desperate to try and play for NSW in his bid to return to the national side.

"He's got to get back on the field and as yet that hasn't happened so time is running out," Hohns said.

I also think he may miss this test series, he wouldn't be ready in time to get selected. So, I think they may take Williams, instead of McGrath.
