^ Dustin Martin reference, I guess?
Stui, the difference with Manning and other such cases is theres no suggestion that Dutton is being privately lobbied by mates or that that will affect his reasoning. It surely goes without saying that someone in Duttons position, supposedly making decisions based on national interest, shouldnt be allowong personal connections to influence his decision making. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

3. What does an AuPair do? (currently there is class action in the US by ? Au Pairs as opposed to Nannies)

I asked my au pair, and she said, "An au pair does what a nanny does, except with a French accent. This is well worth the extra expense."
"Merci," I replied. |

Yeah, Dusty reference.
The media etc are all angling at that personal connection bit but I don't really buy that.
Backing up to your question about work rights in general, most countries have protections in place to ensure that only citizens or permanent residents have the right to work. We have exceptions, someone under 30 can get a 12 month working holiday visa, someone on a student visa has limited work rights and we have the 457 visas for skilled workers.
The question as to why the restrictions comes down to a countries version of sovereignty. We have borders and border control for a reason. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Quote: | Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton has threatened to turn the tables on the Labor opposition if it keeps pursuing him over the au pair scandal, saying he "kept a list" of MPs who asked him for help on immigration cases and he is "gathering information" to expose Labor's hypocrisy.
Ahead of a Senate inquiry into his interventions in favour of two foreign au pairs, Mr Dutton said he had "nothing at all to hide", and challenged Labor to interrogate him when Parliament resumes next week. |

Au pair is French for cheap labour and a root on the sly. Works well for the rich and famous. |

Had a look at a couple of websites, I might have to get one in to entertain the old girl. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |
