^JDG did train today. I was in attendance.
He told me too that his leg had pulled up good as gold.

He, Crocker and Cox were still practicing snap shots for goal at the end of the session when everyone else had pretty much gone in.

Howe was unsighted.
Goldsack may have stood in the middle at the start and not trained.
Adams had a rest today too.
Sam Murray likewise.

Encouragingly, Adam Treloar was pretty much training with the main group.
Darcy Moore was doing run throughs and sideways/lateral running with exaggerated knee lifts to test and strengthen his hamstrings.

Unless I misheard Julian De Stoop said he didnt. Good to hear.

EDIT: Played back the recording and at 6min mark he says that Jordan De Goey also didnt train today and came off very late in that game on the weekend against Brisbane looked a little bit uncomfortable but the Magpies adamant he will play against Port Adelaide. All a bit odd.

Port really has been poor over the last few weeks.
They have struggled to kick scores against pretty ordinary opposition.
This week they put together a team without Dixon and very likely Ryder and maybe Polec.
If nothing else they will be a lot less predictable but their form line hardly suggests they are in a rich vein of form.
More than happy to win this one by a point and I dont see any reason why we wont.

We also got swans back out of bad form...

At least it's a home game at the G.

With Howe still unavailable, it's no changes this week.

Howe ruled out again with his 'corkie'.

Reckon he might have a facial fracture from the collision with Moore's knee to the head.

No changes this week

Defintion of a corkie What is a corked thigh?
A corked thigh or muscle contusion is caused by a severe impact to the muscles of the thigh causing damage to these muscles, resulting in internal bleeding and subsequent inflammation. A haematoma (collection of blood in the tissues) in the quadriceps muscle may occur.

Symptoms of corked thigh
Pain, stiffness, swelling and bruising are the main symptoms of a corked thigh. The extent of pain and loss of movement are dependent on the amount of force and impact at the time of the trauma.

Causes of corked thigh
A corked thigh is usually caused by a direct blow to the thigh muscle often during contact sports, such as football or rugby.

Treatment for corked thigh
Treatment involves rest, ice and compression and elevation of the limb. Heat, alcohol and massage should be avoided in the first 48 hours after the injury.

If it isn't a corked thigh then apply the same to what ever region of the body. Head?

Could be worse, how hard do you have to get hit to get a fractured forehead?

If we have erred with selection this year it's probably putting to much faith in the ability of Reid and Moore to get and stay healthy and fill a key defensive position in the absence of Dunn and Scharenberg.

We now find ourselves in a vulnerable position up against any side with a quality power forward and I can't help but feel that we would have been much better served by exposing McLarty prior to now.

If we are looking at the bigger picture then surely his presence last week in place of Oxley just felt like the latest opportunity presented because of our injury curse to get a look at a player who potentially offers more value because of key roles he could fill.

Of course McLarty has spent the year playing in the position of forward/ruck after spending 2017 in defence so his inclusion might be more about allowing Mihocek to go back than McLarty himself but at least it gives us more key positional flexibility.

It's obviously not an easy call because Mihocek has been good up forward and is still an undersized key position defender himself so it's far from the perfect solution but with Dixon out and Howe still in doubt bringing in McLarty for Oxley just feels like we're covering more bases moving forward and the better decision on balance.

Yeah, I tend to agree swoop.

I would have liked us to at least give McLarty a run in the seniors BEFORE the finals, so we can gauge his readiness to fill a hole if required. In the absence of Dunn, Scharenberg, Howe and Moore, I don't think we'd be too top heavy by playing him in defence. Fwiw, I'd leave Mihocek up forward where he has been a revelation.

Howe did that happen? Does it take 3-4 weeks until the haematoma becomes evident? Surely could have been drained earlier?
