Whats the point. The scum players will be so inept they won't be able to carry it out. Some players are also playing for a renewed contract and having them concede frees to some new rule that may not be implemented is unfair. Try these rules in the womens game where it is much slower and everyone can see the intent. The only rule they implement is a ban on Stevic saying free kick hawthorn unless the other side gets as many _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

Rules: AFL to consider at least six changes
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-07-25/rules-afl-to-consider-at-least-six-changes
"More to come"
Meanwhile, on twitter...
Cameron Ling:
"In regards to trialling rule changes in current season - every game matters for fans, draft picks and integrity. If it happens I hope Melbourne FC are refunded $500,000 and apologies are issued. Every games integrity mattered then, why not now?"
Mick McGuane:
"Trialling new rules during an AFL season surely compromises its integrity. Staggering thoughts. Policy on the run. Stop jumping at shadows."
Nathan Burke:
"The fact that the AFL even half contemplate trialing rules ‘in season’ shows why we have no faith when Hocking says trust us, we have the interests of the game at heart."

Amazing how the AFL looks for significant rule change when Collingwood are back as a premiership fancy.
At the end of 2010 it was what, the introduction of the sub rule and a rotation cap?
If change comes I hope they only use the existing markings on the ground and in particular take the simple approach of each team having a minimum numbers of players within the 50m arcs at specific moments of a game. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Starting positions at centre bounces recommended as AFL group gives six the tick
https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/starting-positions-at-centre-bounces-recommended-as-afl-group-gives-six-the-tick-20180725-p4ztmj.html
"The AFL’s competition committee has formally recommended the introduction of the so-called ‘‘six-six-six’’ formation at centre bounces for next year, in the biggest of six recommendations made to alleviate the congestion around the ball.
The AFL’s special committee also recommended no change to the current interchange rotation limit, but agreed to restrictions on the use of the runner and are understood to have discussed options for an expanded goal square for kick ins.
...
The Age understands details on restricting the runner were yet to be finalised, while the prospect of expanding the goal square also required further investigation. In previous discussions, that expansion had been mooted as up to 18 metres. The decision to retain the current level of interchanges at 90 is a significant one, since many within the game have called for this tool to be used as a method for combating congestion.
But the most consequential prospective change – at least at this stage – is the formal recommendation that teams line-up with six players in each 50-metre arc at both ends and a further six between the arcs (of which four are in the centre square) at centre bounces." |

AFL rule tweaks at standstill amid outcry
https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/afl-rule-tweaks-at-standstill-amid-outcry-20180726-p4ztvg.html
J. Niall:
' The level of animosity created by the mere suggestion of a trial was not only about the "integrity" of a game that has an unequal fixture, trials four umpires and which has changed rules – and match review policies – mid-season over the years without much hesitation.
No, it is clear that the anger was – in part – a pent-up response to the AFL’s continued wish to usher in changes to the rules of the game. The conservative faction among the fans – a sizeable number – have developed change fatigue. The trial was the last straw.
I don’t agree with the perennial cry of "leave the rules alone". The game cannot be left alone, since to do so would see it gradually become something unrecognisable – it already has taken on too many elements of the rugby codes. The more realistic question remains "what kind of changes are necessary?" ' |

Well I can understand where Nathan is coming from - the number of times Richmond players just hung onto the ball when tackled knowing they wouldn't be pinged was infuriating. |

Coburg-Werribee in the VFL tomorrow is reported to be trialing the new rules (but it looks like that's not the telecast game on 7). |

Leave the $£$%^%%$ game alone.
Sick of seeing people whine about the state of the game. If I don't know any better, the matches I've seen this weekend have been fantastic. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

It certainly helps when there are many close games.
Think of e.g. the Swans-Eagles GFs: low-scoring games between mediocre teams (the latter with a Fab Four --- sound familiar?) made interesting by how well the teams matched each other. |

If Dangerfield doesn't like he can simply retire.
Most of the injuries have been collision and impact, nothing to do with the length of the game. The fittest will survive. _________________ Jatsad - That is all |
