Last time we played Tigers the following players played who are not playing this week :
Treloar
Blair
Reid - injured last qtr
DeGoey
Appleby
Aish - got injured third qtr - Knee
Dunn
Following players in the current team that didn't play last time:
Adams
Moore
Langdon
Mihocek
Varcoe
Daicos
Greenwood.
In addition, Maynard injured his ankle early in the game last time and then missed several weeks after.
While I think with Degoey out they might just shift Greenwood to the forward line as he seems to be the bloke who fills holes - Id love to see him tag Cotchin. At least at the start to see if its effective. |
It does add some perpsective but missing DeGoey in his current form is still a big hole to fill I reckon. I would love for Checkers to use his strength in an aggressive way this week as well as Varccoe with his hardness when he tackles oppostion players. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman

With Ninthmond playing Griggs as their second ruck and basically 4 players ready to rove to our hit outs
I think Brody should always ruck against Griggs and Mason ( if he plays or McLarty ) should ruck against their number one ruck man
I notice that Ninthmond play their mids against mids with the non competing ruck mid being spare or loose man in the square who at best is trying to shark the hit out
The great advantage of Brody is he plays as a midfielder but as 200cm midfielder
I would love Brody to just run through Griggs early in a legitimate ball up then it changes their game plan totally

Focusing on who is out looks pretty dire, but focusing on who is in and how they have been able to perform their roles for the most part gives a real glimmer of hope.
No doubt we deserve to be underdogs, but I think well take it up to Richmond for the most part ... whether we can do it for long enough remains to be seen.
Wonder if this is the game where Maynard spends more time in the middle with our mids (Treloar, Sier, De Goey) out?
Umpiring has the potential to impact this game greatly I think as I expect Cox to be a greater than usual focus (De Goey missing and more last option kicks playing a better team) and if they give him early free kicks for arm chops, blocking and holding then Richmond defence may crumble somewhat. _________________ All We Can Be |

We're now two bulls down and with Brown added to the mix of Sidebottom, Adams, Thomas and Daicos just to small through the midfield IMO. |
Think this week it may be worth playing Greenwood in the middle as a tagger. Give us some extra strength.
The Tigers are small through the middle as well, but will be stronger. |
Yeah I think we need to compensate for the loss of de Goey and Sier by trying to put a clamp on one of Richmond's best midfielders and the man for that job would be Greenwood.
We also need to hope both Mayne and Varcoe can turn back the clock and contribute 2 or 3 goals between them this week.
Mayne has only kicked 1.6 for the season. Varcoe 3.6. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Geez, he gets questioned for his pessimism in the 2018 predictions thread, then questioned for optimism in this one. Poor fella can't win!
Your optimism is admirable DTM, keep it up. |

Aw stuff it, my left nut tells me this will be a huge upset, against all odds, underdog day, like last week, Suns rolled Swans. So, to hell with it, stuff these insufferable arrogant turds, their 100K fans, many of whom microwaved memberships few years back, stuff em !! Woods by 21 points.!!!!

Re getting sharked Ive wondered why we dont employ the occasional bash it forward tactic ala Clark Keating. Would certainly surprise the Tigers and break up their structure. But wwik. |
This is the thinking we need. Most teams fall into the trap of playing to the Tigers strengths and not making them change up their game plan. They are so well drilled that if you allow them to play their way, they will win 99% of the time.
We need to make them panic and second guess themselves.
Would be easier if we had a full list.
Would love for the Tigers to be two down on the bench by mid way through the 1st quarter and suffer two more injuries before half time. |

I've already read earlier that you've already given your left nut away, so you're not chancing too much. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

FWIW, I have a good feeling about the game tomorrow. I have written elsewhere that I think we have zero chance of winning, and this would be definitely the call based on logic. And yet, I have a presentiment of something magical brewing...Go Pies!! _________________ Free Julian Assange!!

Essendon currently taking it up to Sydney...this season is a season of whiskers and hairline margins...Under such conditions, "rational logic" often gets overturned by randomness. _________________ Free Julian Assange!!

I fear we'll be too under strength to truly challenge Richmond today but really - it matters not - we want to hold all of our cards to our chest until we play them in finals. _________________ All Aboard!! Choo Choo!!! |
