Oh yessss
We are amassing a very potent scoring edge to our game without two
players we were expecting to build our forward line on a while back

A great game. However, we missed Howe in defence, so I hope he returns soon.
I actually thought it was perhaps Cox's best 4 quarter game. A great all round performance and great coaching by Bucks, particularly at the selection table, bringing in Mihocek as a forward. We are tracking nicely. |

Flat last quarter, but sets us up to hit QB fresh. I can cope. We are starting to do what good footy teams should. It has taken a long time, but the team that Buckley built is coming into leaf. _________________ Two more flags before I die! |

A Freo supporter on the train coming into the game said his side had no hope of winning. Then watching the game you can see the reason why. They take an eternity moving the ball from the backline into the forward line and then they have no one in the forward line to kick a winning score. Their mids are formidable though. Walters is a gun. I'll take the win but if we expect to beat Melbourne we'll need to play a lot better. Dunn is a lot better player with Howe along side him. Mihocek is a better back than as a forward but did well nevertheless so if Reid returns for the Melbourne game I'd play Reid forward and Mihocek back. Appleby played his best game for us and deserves to keep his spot. Murray has to learn that when he breaks loose, he has to hit a target. Otherwise it will be a long time before he plays AFL again. |

A really good win. Up against a very weak opponent but did what we needed to. First time we've kicked 20 goals since ANZAC 2016.
Well done to Mihocek. Got his opportunity and took it with both hands. There will be tougher challenges ahead but this is a good first step and you'd think he'd keep his spot for next week.
Adams clearly played his best game of the year. Winning the ball in close is what we need from him and this is mostly what he did today. 8 clearances and 18 contested disposals. Tick.
Phillips continues his fantastic form. A near dead heat between he and Sidey for best on.
WHE has been a consistent performer all year. His combination of speed, height and marking power make him a dangerous forward. Great to see him able to break out with such a big game. _________________ Well done boys! |

^^Yes. Maynard was excellent. Tough to fit straight back in after a month out, but he played one of his better games. Getting one under his belt will hopefully help him for next week as well. _________________ Well done boys! |

A season sure is a long time in football.
A ten goal win and I'm feeling a little deflated by a lack lustre last quarter!!!!!
However.... who would've thought this time last year, that we would debut a 25 year old from the the VFL who would kick 4 goals. (Well done Mihocek -great to see your determination rewarded). Who would've guess that WHE would kick six or that the energizer bunny in Phillips would be near BOG?
From the AFL website :
"Both Phillips and Sidebottom run around the six-minute mark over 2km, which is considered at the top echelon of elite, and their ability to cover the ground in such a dominant manner was telling".
Another lion-hearted effort from Grundy.
Anyway, a little perspective makes me thankful to the boys for a great win. |

Good % booster. Did what we had to do.
Disappointed in the last 15 minutes where they got 5 goals.
Like the way we had Treloar, Adams etc. rotating at full forward at various times. But have to say, WHE looks a natural at full forward.
Mihocek did well, good hands and can kick straight.
The mids all got a stack of it.
Next week we will find out where we sit. |

Tick.
Except for the last 10 minutes when we really took the foot off the pedal, that was a good win.
We absorbed their early pressure, adapted to their high possession low risk style, then broke them kicking goals in bursts.
Phillips on a wing is a running machine. He just breaks opponents hearts
Mihocek is nothing special, but 4 goals in your first game is nothing to be sneezed at. He competes and finishes well.
Once we got going we just swamped them with a glut of running players mostly of high quality. We must have the deepest midfield in the AFL.
And up forward, I love WHE and the options he makes. De Goey had a bad first half and a much better 2nd without hitting the scoreboard much, but with the option of him, WHE, Treloar and Thomas all as goal kicking leading munchkins, we're on the march. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

20? This is his 4th or 5th season. 22 or 23, surely. _________________ Est. 2002 |
