Will Warnie play ODI's again? I think that he will make a come back for the Sri Lankan tour. Don't forget that last summer he and Brad Hogg bowled well in together in the VB finals. |

It's a question for him and the selectors. They have to look at the future and frankly he is not a likely candidate for 2007 World Cup.
His bowling shoulder has already shown the damage of wear and tear from excessive use. If he is seeking to prolong his career, it is somewhat questionable whether playing ODI is of any benefit. _________________ he's an animal, what can u expect!!! |

The problem with the "age" argument and planning for the next World Cup is that a few of the players in the current team shouldnt be playing based on that argument. ie Gilchrist and Bevan would be unlikely starters next World Cup. For the time being age should not be a consideration.
I would pick both Cameron White and Shane Warne in the one squad. I would let Cameron White observe Shane Warne at work and let him pick up some tips and tricks etc. Similar to how Lleyton Hewitt was orange boy and allowed to be around the Davis Cup team at a young age. Hopefully this would speed along the learning for Cameron White.

Agree once again, JLC. Next season should see White take over from McGill as no.2 spin option White has certainly shown enough so far to be worthy of what will be a gamble. His undoubted batting ability should make him an ideal ODI prospect.
The only danger will be in comparing him to Warne as they are 2 totally different types of legspinner with White being more in the Kumble mould. He can certainly learn from the human headline but they should't try and make him a clone. _________________ he's an animal, what can u expect!!! |
