Can anyone tell me is there a priority pick or backdoor selection for a vfl player who has done his time on our vfl list to coming to our afl list?
I don't know a great deal about the draft rules. I would have imagined a player who has done an apprenticeship with us would have an avenue to joining the seniors. _________________ We shall set our course by the stars and not ships that pass in the night |

As far as I'm aware the VFL competition is open slather to any club wanting to recruit a player. The advantage is with clubs like Geelong who can hide players and to the interstate clubs with their own local competition, where outside clubs need to be aware that some players don't want to travel, before they consider drafting them. The only priority access to drafting players we have, is under father/son and through our academies. |

What a shame - to see all that work put into them only to see it passed onto another club.
I see from Lulie st, Wellings is doing well and have thought we might want to retain him. I'd love to see some VFL games and if I knew we had a priority pick from these guys it would make the seconds a must see. _________________ We shall set our course by the stars and not ships that pass in the night |

Wellings is from GWS isn't he? If we want to pick him up next year a late round draft pick might be enough to do it, presuming other clubs pass on him. |

GWV - rebels. Often see names popping up and wonder if they will land a spot come draft time. _________________ We shall set our course by the stars and not ships that pass in the night |

We did exactly that with Kirby after he played for Richmond’s VFL side. Don’t think they’d be too worried about that right now. _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'
