Quote: | Wells: Ready to go. With Pendles a possible out, it's almost a certainty that Wells gets back in.
Greenwood: 1 game at VFL level and was managed throughout that game, but named Collingwoods best. Will be tempting to bring him back after last year, but he may need another game or two in the seconds.
Fasolo: He's hungry. Very hungry. And he's done enough in the VFL. Would be a smart inclusion for mine. Will take his chance and run.
Sier: I'm actually pretty excited about Sier now. A big, hard body and killing it in the VFL. So, so close to an AFL debut and this could be it.
McLarty: Another to impress in the VFL. I dont know if he'll get a game this week, but at worst, he'll be named emergency.
Brown: After a week off, will he come straight back in? Thats what happened with Crocker.
Mihoceck, Madgen and Daicos all need to keep pressing their case in the VFL. I dont think they'll be considered this week, but the signs are still positive for them. |
^^
From that I'll say;
IN: Wells, Fasolo, Sier.
Out: Pendlebury (inj), Crocker, Blair.
Emergencies: McLarty, Crocker, Blair, Brown (unlucky).
I'd let WHE know that he needs to do more. Appleby might make way for someone, but I think we give him another shot. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

Surely Greenwood is a fair way off an AFL return IMO and not best 22 anyway for mine. Mind you neither are Blair and Mayne. _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

The talk of why we didn't play a lock down role on Zorko is mute really.
We didn't because (I'm guessing) the coach thought the players bodies and legs might not have stood up to such a punishing assignment. He may also believed that if it was a game based our pure skills then we would win.
Either way we won and that's what we needed was a win then move on.
Frankly live at the game even in the warm up we didn't seem to be as focused or energetic as the Lions. It may have just been they were really up for the game we were ready but not overly pysched as we were in previous weeks.
Geelong is a different kettle of fish
They have shown in the recent weeks even without some stars they can compete and win.
We've had great success in recent times locking down Selwood and Buckley has shown already this season he will assign that role to a player if he believes it's in the best interest of the team.
I doubt Breenwood would just come straight in after such a long lay off and a half game in the magoos
We will make changes how many is a the question.
The club has been loathed to make many changes unless forced but this week might be the exception.
Moore has to move back to CHB
The cats defenders are quite slow so our forwards should be able to create loads of space and opportunities.
I would go with the following team
B. Murray. Dunn. Howe
HB. Crisp. Moore. Scharenberg
C. Treloar. Wells. Phillips
HF. Faz. WHE. Sidey
F. JDG. Cox. Stephenson
R. Grundy. Adams. Pendles
Int. Varcoe. Maynard. Thomas. Brown
In. Wells. Mayanrd. Brown. Faz
Out. Appleby (needs more games in the seconds). Blair. Mayne. Crocker
Wells may be the icing on the cake we are trying to build with his silky skills. Use him as that last kick inside 50 or close to goal
Mayanrd can go to Selwood rotating with another player
Forward line of Faz. WHE. Sidey. Cox. Stephenson JDG. Will be way to quick and skilful for there defenders and we can rotate other through as needed to keep our midfield runners fresh
Off the bench Varcoe Thomas keep the running coming with Mayanrd and Brown to play tagged or run with role.
The defence speaks for itself with Moore going back the rest remain unchanged and that group of 6 are by far our best defenders until such time Murray needs a break or we get a injury then we can move Mayanrd or Adams back of required
On paper I think we match up really well agains the cats we just need to be at a minimum of 95% of our best.
Hoping Pendles gets up if he doesn't then bring in Wills or Seir and set them on Dangerfield or Selwood
If the coach really believes Greenwood is ready then play him on Selwood who would have nightmares knowing what was coming. He could take Brown's place in the team |

Young Flynn did cost some errant goals but he will learn ( thru some VFL games) so his spot Langdon or Maynard❓
Pendles if not up for it and Wells is that’s an in❓
If it works Sier in for Mayne (A look to the future)
And besides we could have a chant for Sier

Mayne 80 metres gained. Crocker 173m.
Blair 129 metres gained. Thomas 298m.
Adams had a particularly poor return of 108 metres gained which is miles off his 2017 average of 362m and half as much of his 2018 average.
I thought Mayne played a marginally better game than Crocker while Blair was decent enough in the 1st and 4th but was barely sighted in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.
Adams stays while only one of Mayne, Crocker and Blair should be considered IMO. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Adams and Moore were well below the standard expected of both but given their time out, bothe deserve to be cut a little slack.
Agree that Mayne deserves another game before Crocker, but maybe neither will be in this week ahead of Fasolo. _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

If Pendles gets up,
OUT: Mayne, Crocker, Blair, Appleby
IN: Wells, Faz, Sier, Langdon
If not, then Brown is next in.
Sier debuts with a negating run-with role on Danger. Adams runs with Duckwood (might get Adams back into form). Probably put Treloar or Pendles head-to-head with Ablett. _________________ All We Can Be |

You couldn’t do that to the kid Seir on debut. No way. Doesn’t have the tank for starters. Ya dreamin’. _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

I don't think Mayne should be dropped.
Through my eyes he got a game in front of Faz because he adds more forward pressure something Buckley has made a priority this season in our game plan.
Mayne has been ok but not great but far from our worst. So the decision will or should come down to did he do the job asked by the coach
Personally I would rather go with a player who we believe will be playing senior footy at the club for the next 5 years and that's not Mayne and maybe not Faz either (it would be Elliott if he was fit)
For the purposes of this weekend I would go with Faz based on his more likely to kick goals and they will vital more so this weekend |
