Just realised they bided using the compo pick they got for Wells.
Gee, imagine the uproar if we passed. |

The Father and Son rules these days are just stupid and an hinderance. The player should nominate if he wants to join his Fathers club. If he doesn't then he goes into the draft or no father and son rules and the player goes into the draft. |

I watched Callum Brown last night and a bit over the last year and I am scratching my head.
He seems really slow. Is this me or am I dreaming? He seems to have some reasonable skills but he is a bloody midget.
To me if a midget is slow then he has to make up with an impressive skill array.
Sam Mitchell was a midget with incredible talent.
But I am beginning to think Callum won't make it.
Now I could be completely wrong but could someone point out to me why he could become a good AFL player. |

To answer your question -
Because he is still only nineteen.
Every team needs an extractor and a distributor. The trick is not to have too many of them in the same side.
Personally I thought he was alright against the Giants.
The kids only nineteen and he was working hard against the odds all night.
At times, he was up against units like Ward, Coniglio and Shiel last night and still found it. As he develops, the polish will come. |

He is 20 in April.
Not so very young. So you think he will be very good as an in and under player??? |

Handballs a lot because he’s usually under pressure. I haven’t seen anything to get excited about yet either. Needs to show he’s worthy of a spot on the list by seasons end. Same with Daicos. _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

Handballs way too much usually out of panic rather than creating opportunities (like Diesel Williamsfor example)
and Daicos has absolutely no penetration his kicking. He kicks balloon up and land about 40 metres away. _________________ Fighting against the objectification of woman. |

I agree, it's absolutely worth keeping a positive outlook for Brown because he's so young. I'm not too worried about his size - dogs 2016 showed that's not necessarily an issue - but I also agree that he's not convinced me yet.
However, when we look at the 'extractor' position, I do wonder whether Brown would ever win a clearance against, for example, Taylor Adams. Even a few years down the track, but obviously that remains to be seen. You also look at players like Adams (and I'm not looking to ignite a debate about his skill level here, please) and see that most 'extractors' these days are also either a) quite quick or b) tall and able to take contested marks.
There are a few freaks like Mitchell who are neither, and there probably always will be, but I'm not convinced their role will be all that significant as the game continues to evolve. |

I can’t believe the expectations that a few have put on this kid.
He was pick 35 in the draft ( and that’s after our discount ) so obviously no club thought he was going to be superstar.
He may yet not make it but in any era and in any language, you don’t go writing a committed soon to be twenty ( but still 19 ) year old off.
Have a look at GCS four top ten mid field type picks from the same draft. They have amassed 30 games between the four of them in their first year in a crap team. ( average 7.5 games per player ) None of them made any impact in their first year.
Callum Brown plays five games at pick 35 and also has no impact. It’s way to early to make a call.
If his name wasn’t Brown, he wouldn’t even be up for discussion. |
