So after I cool down I ring NBN they direct me to the form, I fill it in, in 5 min flat, and it’s half the cost. Apparently they are ahead of schedule, hopefully, the factories will be ready in a month.
As for speed, Telstra is my only option right now, and they are bloody awful. Surely surely NBN can’t be worse? |

I'm with a local company down my way who has it's own wireless network.
Just ran a Telstra speed test and was getting around 20Mbps.
That'll do me. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Do any of you skype or hangout? When has it worked well for you and when has it not? [e.g. have you found it correlated with the down/upload speeds?] |

I just learnt there's also a rival called Zoom. As far as I can see, the advertised minimum and recommended bandwidth is modest for all of them [e.g. for 1:1 video calling: 600kbps (up/down) for HQ video and 1.2 Mbps (up/down) for HD video], so when there's trouble perhaps that's not the issue...
Hmm.... |

I'm up at Toc at the moment, using my wifi only tablet connected to Telstra Air, which is free WIFI for Telstra broadband customers. Pretty shit speed <1mbs but enough for browsing. Works better when there's no mexican terrorists up here. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

well, I'm hanging out for nbn after having to cope with adsl for the past couple of months. Not sure how a 30 odd year old suburb 15 minutes from the cbd missed out on cable? _________________ Formally frankiboy and FrankieGoesToCollingwood. |
