yeah, Nah, maybe.
It's all about ISP's and bandwidth speed, within the US. Only impacts us if you're trying to access US sites, maybe.
We already have some of that happening here, ISP's who are also content providers can provide their streaming content to customers without impacting their data charges (if they have any).
the proposal isn't ideal, but hardly the end of the internet. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

When you think about it, there aren’t a lot of sites you’d regularly use that aren’t based in the US: Google, Gmail, Facebook, YouTube, Amazon, eBay, Wikipedia ... the list goes on. I’m not quite sure how extensive the impacts will be, but some of the stuff I’ve read in the past on this topic is pretty alarming.
I used to roll my eyes when (back in the George W Bush days) people said that everyone in the world should get a vote on the US presidency. With issues like this, I can now see that they kind of have a point. In the end it’s a matter for US domestic politics and US regulators; we get to sit back and enjoy whatever shit they serve up. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

So lets say Amazon buys an ISP in the US and that ISP makes Amazon's streaming service mint and throttles the others.
If you want to use Netflix and the Amazon ISP throttles it, you go to a different ISP.
I'm not sure how we connect to the US, whether our ISP's have deals with US ISP's or how we travel through their network once we get there, so I'm not clear on the potential impact for us _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Optus Throttle Downloading a Bit During Prime Time. As at Times I had to use my VPN to get Full Speeds _________________ I am Da Man |

During primetime you've got more people competing for the same amount of bandwidth, so it's going to get slower _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

So you want the Government that you don't trust to regulate the internet? 'Net Neutrality' is just more regulation of an industry that hasn't done anything to show that it needs it. Nothing more than power creep from the State using useful idiots to push it.
Keep the Government out of the Internet as long as we can. |

I can see the likes of Optus and Telstra creating pay TV style Internet packages, ie, $99 per month for a basic service, plus $25 for the multimedia pack (access to Youtube, Netflix), a social media pack for $30 giving access to Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp and so on. _________________ How would Siri know when to answer "Hey Siri" unless it is listening in to everything you say? |

That would not Shock Me and You probably won't be able to get Unlimited Data like you can now.
It just means more $$$ for them and that all they care about _________________ I am Da Man |

DTM I do not fathom where you get the idea that this will make it for the rich. Have a look at the richest men in the world and Zuckerberg , Gates and a few others will be on it.
I get unlimited downlaod (but really not used much) for about 35.00 a month. It runs all the devices at once. The problem is the providers in Australia gouging the public. Closely linked if not the same as the pay tv and telcos.
Whilst a commission intp banks is wecome another one should be held into the information providers in Australia. But it won't happen because half the politicians go looking for board positions when they get the flick. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |
