Post subject: Can we make finals with current group | |

With only one new player in Sam Murray over the trade period before we get our uncapped draftee,s can we move up the ladder let alone make finals❓❓ _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

We can win the flag.
I'm deadly serious. Richmond does not have a better side than us. True, they have the best player in the AFL in dusty, but our midfield group overall are better than theirs. We have a better ruckman and our forward line, though yet to click, has the potential to be top notch, especially if Cox continues on like he did in round 23.
I certainly don't expect us to win the flag in 2018, as we need to improve across the board and become more consistent, but we actually showed in 2017 that on our day we can match it with anyone. So yes, we can win the flag next year, but playing finals is a more realistic prospect. |

I can't see us doing a Footscray or Richmond, it had been so long for them, they probably did it on emotion more than anything. We're not in that situation but in saying that I think we'll improve enough to scrape in. _________________ Formally frankiboy and FrankieGoesToCollingwood. |

There's a dude on Fox that has his idea of make up of eight and all clubs
Saying over past seasons at least two sides drop out and two replace them
in the eight
He has us eight _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

We could make the 8 but honestly, I can't see us pushing out (m)any of the sides that finished top 8 last year, plus you can most likely add that both Melbourne and the Saints are likely to improve.
Throw in our coaching crutch and most likely we'll finish about the same as we did this year, there or abouts anyway. _________________ All Aboard!! Choo Choo!!! |

Who exactly is this Fox dude? And why should one believe him more than some other dude? |

Maybe, if he avoid injuries and find consistent form.
However, not a flag, we need a target up forward |

And getting an A grade recruit (which we did not) don't guarantee a flag
Buddy to Sydney nor Dangerfield to Cats didn't _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

The question was meant literally. Just wondering who it was.
And asking isn't disbelieving. His list seems reasonable enough, though I'd be surprised if his (or mine) turned out to be extremely accurate.

Baz interesting question.
Our best is good enough to very competitive and win games but the ability to be able to maintain that level is our weakness.
I would hope that we can be more consistent this year and if we can than we could easily make the top 8
My concern is we haven't added any defining improvement to our list at this stage.
We may be prepared to juggle some players roles to improve our chances.
I like Maynard to the middle adds some real hurt around the contest, I like the Grundy/Cox combination they are so different and both are hard to match up on, I like the idea of Moore behind the ball using his natural athletism and he could prove to be a sensational CHB, I like the idea of Pendles and Sidey spending more time as forwards. Getting Wells and Varcoe on the field for the majority of the season for mine will be the key to our chances. There undoubted skills and experience adds a massive lift to the team.
We can't afford any injuries to our best 25 players (long term) and we need to improve our goal kicking and field kicking by 10-15%
If we can achieve that we should make the finals and everyone knows it becomes a mini 4 week season then |
