Checking the papers today, Collingwood has the shortest injury list in the entire competition. Very special thanks to fitness director Dave Buttifant for getting the players up on a weekly basis. Now, I don't understand how certain people on this board can criticize the personell hired by Eddie McGuire. Surely we have the best of the best, so what are these people complaining about?

Excellent catch biodave, this is something that has gone unnoticed in the media.
You only have to look at other clubs like hawthorn, carlton and essendon to see what effect a big name player getting injured has on them. Full credit to all the fitness team.

While I am sure the firness people are doing a great job, the fact that we have the youngest list is a contributing factor to a low injury toll. The youngsters are flexible and recopver quickly. Combined with smart training and fitness management, it all ads up to a good result.
Now if we could only keep Scotty Burns on the park...

Yeah, the injury list this season has remained relatively small throughout. Great fitness management!

Buttifant is an Ex North Melbourne Fitness man and all you have to look at is some of the excellent results with some of the north Players over the years and realise how important to our team he actually is. I know for a fact he has set out a structured fitness regime which emphasis the development of fast twitch fibres ie producing explosive speed, flexability and durability as opposed to a heavy muscle building regime which can be taxing on a body espcially a younger body. Given we have such a young list the benefits of going this way are obvious.
He is an extremely intelligent and well credentialled man. Just the type of people we now attract at Collingwood.

Louis
