Post subject: New Collingwood Logo 2018 | |
|
Hi All,
As discussed, here is my new logo proposal for 2018. (I started a new account as "The Logologist" for this.)
I am a Marketing professional and part time graphic designer, and with the help of professional graphic designers, have developed what I believe is a world class logo story for Collingwood. It takes into account where we have been as a club (current logos, Victoria Park) and where we want to go (forward looking, progressive, but never forgetting our past).
As someone who follows many sports locally and worldwide, I am exposed to A LOT of logos on a daily basis. Our current logo is tired (as is our mangy looking magpie) and does not lend itself to developing appealing apparel that adults feel comfortable wearing, nor is it optimised for digital.
Also of note is that many sporting organisations have 'alternate' or 'secondary' logos (especially in US sports), which simply extends the brand and optimises it for many alternative uses.
I have attached an abridged version of my proposal (the original version is 40 pages long and includes more back story, my new logo objectives and a deeper analysis of contemporary sports logos).
If the rumours are true, and we are developing an all-for-one logo for all Collingwood teams, then the "FOOTBALL CLUB" can simply be removed.
Enjoy (or not).
Apologies for the extensive use of Copyright marks, which does somewhat ruin the impact of the new logos (however, I have to protect my work).
All work is mine and is protected by copyright law.

Interesting.
I don't like the secondary logo much, M for Magpies may not be automatically apparent, but good work.
I like the look of your magpie, does look sleeker and more aggressive. I'm happy to see the end of the laurel wreath too.
When i compare yours with the apparently new club one, I'd actually take yours but borrow 2 things from the new club one.
Curve the name Collingwood under the curve of the C and put the 1892 stamp in there somewhere.
Otherwise, good work. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

I like the idea of the 1892 in the bottom there somewhere too _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

Great work.
I particularly like the simple C with the M and/or Magpie placed inside.
It is very reminiscent of the Chicago Cubs logos. They too focus with a large letter C with the word Cubs or a representation of an actual cub inside.
(I wish I new how to post pictures!)
They work well and are visible everywhere throughout Chicago. I saw 4 games at Wrigley in May and the boldness and visibility of the big C can't be missed.
On the stadium, on merchandise or on apparel - it was simple but very effective.
I like what you've done! |

Nice work, looks cool, thanks for sharing. Although the M reminded me of Melbourne United's logo (but is diff when I compared) |

Well done, nice work! I love the primary logo but the secondary one not really doing it for me _________________ Formally frankiboy and FrankieGoesToCollingwood. |

Quality and really professional work. The new master logo looks great, I love the Victoria Park allusion, and the swooping magpie is a great addition. Like stui I'm less convinced about the M secondary logo. But great work. _________________ Two more flags before I die! |
