This is last week's news, but I've been so busy I haven't had time to post about it: I got a job! A real job, editing a film and TV magazine. It's hard work, but I'm already straight into it and have the print deadline for my first issue due in 10 days. That's what's been making me happy for the past week and a bit. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Wow, that's awesome, well done. What's the name of it?

^ bloody brilliant, David, and warmest congratulations. Well deserved, and I'm sure you'll be a real success. Does this mean we have to start paying you for policing this zoo ? Which mag is it ? _________________ Two more flags before I die! |

Cool. Good stuff David.
Is the mag mainstream where you'll have to keep your somewhat eclectic tastes in check or one with no readers? _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Thanks everyone! The magazine is called Screen Education and is aimed at media studies teachers and students. It's a bit in both camps, Stui leans reasonably mainstream, but there's space every issue for stuff that's a little more off the beaten track. I'm pretty amazed by the calibre of writers its list of contributors includes some of my favourite film critics, people I've read for years and admired. Can't quite believe my good fortune in getting this role. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

You make your own fortune and luck,
Youmight have to watch some 'normal' films now though! _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

I should get a free subscription for those six hours of my life I wasted watching the Saudi and Iranian films you recommended. The Saudi one (about a girl who wanted to ride a bike) was not bad, but the Iranian one was unforgivable.
Again, good luck but you know what you are doing and you'll be great. _________________ Two more flags before I die! |
