Nothing to boast about from either player but Cloke does average more than twice as many goals than the hobbit.
So that is food for thought. |
Take your point, but for the sake of 3 more goals across 6 games Cloke exerts negligible forward pressure compared to Bilbo. I also suspect that the goals per minute spent in the forward line would equalize the numbers a lot as Blair plays up the ground far more than Cloke.
Doubt that either player would make us top 8 material, atm |
Cloke has also been rucking in and spending time on the bench so those numbers may not be that much if any more than Blair at all
A more interesting comparison is to his replacement as no1 forward, Darcy Moore. He has 13 goals from 11 games so a similar output but after 5 games had just the 3 goals and boy did people get upset if there was ever any suggestion of dropping him!
He has come good now, but even then a great game from Darcy is getting 2 or 3 goals out of him... |
Well at the half way mark of the year.
Darcy and Travis both have the same goal kicking average.
1.2 goals per match.
It will be interesting to compare at the end of round 22.
But Cloke isn't a dud like what a lot of posters imply. _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |

The only 'dud' part of Travis is between the ears . . Oh and yes he actually believes the balloon juice his old man peddles. |

Old man Cloke was one of the best ruckman I ever saw at collingwood.
He was runnerup in 1984 brownlow medal count.
He could clear a path for any midfielder better than anyone I ever saw.
He gets far too much criticism on Nicks. _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |

I would suggest that that Cloke gets more support around him and better delivery to him than Darcy.
Having said that, Cloke still at Collingwood ( preferably on less money for one more year ) would have been of significant benefit to Moores key forward development. |

He doesn't get criticism, in here, for his playing ability/career.
It has been around his management of the Cloke boys. _________________ Donny.

And like any good unionist, taking his cut along the way.
Also Trav seemed to take every second weekend off like a good union worker should. |

Very sad, watching Trav, tonight.
Has the second lowest disposals count of all the Bulldogs, and no goals. Or behinds, for that matter. _________________ Donny.

It was such a pity we recruited him to play CHF. He went into the ruck when he bombed as a key forward and was more than useful, but it wasn't what we recruited him for. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

If Cloke works out for the Dogs or not, he's still worth the "risk" at pick 76 or whatever it was. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

I couldn't believe they took him on.

i don't blame them for taking him, the potential upside was enormous. The unknown was whether his performance was due to poor coaching and if the 'super-coach' could breath new life into him.
Turns out that Beveridge has no magic spell and that Buckley was getting everything from Trav that was there to get. |

Trav spent years being 3 on 1 or even 4 on 1 year after year.
When you get smashed year after year it is hard to come up roses.

Yep, he looks shot, as he has been for a couple of years. The game simply has past him by. He has lost his speed off the mark, lost his agility and lost his ability to contest ground ball. He is no longer a "monster" in the strength category either. Defenses are too smart and too quick for Trav now. All his deficiencies are being exposed now that his strengths have diminished. Happens to all footballers, unfortunately I doubt Trav is the type to retire, he will need a good hip and shoulder at the cliff face.
Bux was correct to let Trav go as he has been for most players, even Heater tbh. Heater would have lost his cool in our backline over the past few years, it was best for him to leave. Wellers has done next to jack in the West and Daisy has done jack as well save for a few miracle moments here and there...so Trav has been just another smart let go.
I'm not happy to see Trav struggle but I am glad he is not struggling in our forward line anymore and that puts a little smirk on my face. _________________ RED "BABY" CAVANAUGH: Didn't hear what the bet was.
