At stumps, India were 7/477, 79 behind.
Rahul Dravid had a great day. Wonderful concentration to be still there, on 199 n.o. and facing the first ball tomorrow morning. _________________ Donny.

The draw is looking like the likely result dont you think ?? Australias bowling attack is depleted with only Gillespie being quality. They will struggle to bowl India out until they get McGrath and Warne back. India hasnt even had to have a contribution from Tendulkar yet.
India may snatch the series if the Aussies dont get their main bowlers back.

1. Australia have a a better batting line-up
2. India get travel sickness
3. India have probably the 6th ranked bowling line-up in the world behind (in no particular order Australia, NZ, RSA, Pakistan, Sri Lanka).
4. Australia tend to bounce back after being stung like they were in the first innings (well they did in the 2nd innings of that test).
Having said all that an Indian win is not completely unfathomable, but certainly not likely. |
Yeah but Aussies bowling attack is crap without McGrath and Warne, thats the point you have missed.

Dizzy??? Quality....yeah sure his figures are good but if you pound it predictably past the off stump and every ball get's let by quality then I am stumped as to what bichel has been doing....atleast he has been micing things up a little....a draw seems likely..

They're missing Lee as well. Bichel and Williams are decent replacements when on song. _________________ Chuffed to have seen 3 flag wins in my lifetime but still greedy for more. |

Gillespie is a world class bowler. What do you think McGrath has made a living from the last decade ?? He bowls line and length outside off stump and makes the batsman play.
If you think Bichel, Williams and Gillespie are in the same league you are very much mistaken. Gillespie is miles better than those two bowlers.
Australias best bowling attack is McGrath, Gillespie Brett Lee and Warne. Brett Lee has a lot to prove but his aggressive bowling will intimidate the Indians.
The Williams injury will prove to be a blessing.

Exactly JLC, McGrath makes the batsman play at the ball with subtle variation, and that is the point that I was trying to make. In that Innings Dizzy's bowling was very predicatble and easily read. There is no doubt that Dizzy is a world class bowler but he sure could still learn a little bit about variation, that is what makes him a dagerous proposition for the future as well, the fact the he still has things to learn. Bichel is certainly right up there, and yes I agree that the bowling combination that you put up is certainly Australia's best, but you have to give credit, where credit is due and all the credit should go to Bichel for a fantastic bowling display in the 1st Innings in Adelaide.

Looks like the aussies are getting a bit of curry......lol classic u gotta love it.
If India wins this it will be a famous famous victory. However its finely balanced so the Aussies could also win but one bowler im thinking Gillespie needs to lift.

Wow the supposedly 6th best team in the world minus their best pace bowler and spin bowler and with only one run from their best batsman and on foreign soil have the aussies on the ropes!!!!!!!

Very interesting test for the Aussies now - 145 runs isnt that many atm and only 5 wickets left.
Well at least the Indians cant lose by an innings
If the aussies can get 250 it will be tough for the Indians

Gilchrist is showing his class by scoring runs when they matter most and in a quick fashion as well.
This could turn out to be the best series in Australia for many a year.

The Aussies have been knocked over for just 196 and India now require 230 to win test. Agarkar the hero with 6 wickets. I think the game is very evenly poised cos chasing on a 5th day pitch is always difficult. Gillespie and McGill are the keys if the aussies are to win those two will have to improve on their 1st Innings efforts. Both are reguarded as world class bowlers and If that is the case the should be able to bowl to aussies to victory as we would expect Warne and McGrath to do. Personally I don't think they are up it and I think the Indians will win. Time will tell! |

This test reeks of MCG Boxing Day test 1998/99 vs. England. We lost.
This test reeks of SCG 5th test 1993/94 vs. South Africa. We lost.
It's a relief to know that blokes aren't batting for their spot in the team or anything silly like that...

I'm afraid Australia lacks the class and ability to bowl out India for such a low total. They will require a few lucky decisions and complacement shots by the indians to win this one.
C'mon Lee and McGrath!! Hurry Up!! |
