Actually I think it's going to be cringeworthy but hilariously entertaining. |

Disagree. In the old world it did David but not in the new world of Trump. He couldn't give a rat’s arse about diplomacy or indeed what others think - he does what HE does in HIS way. Always has and always will. No PC led policies.
Not supporting this practice in any way but just saying that Trump is no diplomat and has never ever been one in his life.
He will have a Military style Presidency with former Defense Service Generals running the foreign government business/policies instead of diplomats.
Like others have said, it is going to be brilliantly entertaining over the next few years but I think the USA needed a spark/energy and they have now got that after merely treading water for many years. I think it could be entertaining if there wasn't so much at stake. Consider his plans to indiscriminately bomb ISIS-held areas, for instance: how many innocent civilians will die because people wanted the big-mouthed reality TV guy in charge? Questions like that are what make this more horror than comedy. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

I have already said that I definitely don't support Trump's practice but it will be what it will be. I'd rather deal with it in reality terms rather than be still in denial about his status as President elect. You cant/wont always get what you want so lets cope with it the best we can. The alternative is to live under a rock somewhere like most of the politicians in Australia. _________________ Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. History suggests that once you're in, you've got a better-than-even chance of getting re-elected. But one would think Trump would have to not stuff things up catastrophically to get a second go, and I'm not sure how likely that is. There's also the prospect of impeachment before his first four years are even up, should his dodgy business dealings and manifold conflicts of interest ever catch up with him. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Or he might have health complications. Oldest ever president at the commencement of his tenure, isn't he? _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Reagan was 69 when he was inaugurated, but only three weeks away from 70.
Trump will be the oldest President to be inaugurated if he's elected by the Electoral College as expected. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

Really ? Questions do not make horror, though actions may. I loathe Trump, but I think it'd be wise to reserve judgement until he acts badly, rather than assuming he will. His defining characteristic seems to be that he is unpredictable, and may deliver anything from absurd twittering indolence, to simple corruption, to loose-cannon murderousness - or somewhere in between. We shall see.
The one thing we know about the present situation in Syria is that there is one war criminal running a major state with a taste for indiscriminate and cynical bombing in the ME, and it is not the President of the US. Perhaps that would be a better focus for our sense of horror than Trump, at least at this point. _________________ Two more flags before I die! |

I presume we're talking about the same guy whose Middle East policy Trump openly admires and is seeking to emulate? I mean, sure, let's not count our rattlesnakes before they hatch, but the signs aren't exactly promising. Sometimes you have to take people at their word. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace

There are few people i would be less inclined to take at their word than the very mendacious Mr Trump. I think anything and nothing is possible where he is concerned, and he is surrounding himself with military men who tend to be less keen on going to war than politicians, in my experience. Still, the rattlesnakes could certainly hatch, of course. But right now the eggs are not even really laid.
I do think it a little strange that people are stressing about what Trump might do, while barely commenting on what the psychopath in Moscow has been doing for months. _________________ Two more flags before I die! |

It's official.
http://www.breitbart.com/news/donald-trump-surpasses-270-votes-in-electoral-college-to-formally-win-presidency/
So much for the faithless electors
"With all Republican states reporting, Trump only lost the two electors in Texas. Clinton lost four electors in Washington state — three voted for former Secretary of State Colin Powell and one voted for Native American tribal leader Faith Spotted Eagle.
Several Democratic electors in other states tried to vote for protest candidates but they either changed their votes to Clinton or were replaced." |
