I didn't realise that he'd been delisted. Was never up to AFL level _________________ Magpies forever.

He took a nice mark one day, at AFL level. But, er... That was it. Still, more than I ever did. _________________ Two more flags before I die! |

After the NAB Cup, I put Gault in my Fantasy team for Round 1. Never recovered. _________________ Fighting against the objectification of woman. |

Gault hasn't been delisted yet. If the club is going to delist Gault we had better rookie list an experienced ruckman e.g. Will Minson. At the moment if Grundy is injured and Gault is not there we would have the choice of Cox, White, Moore and perhaps Keefe as replacements. While all of them can ruck in short bursts none are good prospects for 100 minutes of ruckwork and in Moore's case it might hamper his development. By all means delist Gault (he has been a disappointment) but not until we have an agreement from a late career ruckman to join our rookie list. _________________ Born and raised in Black and White |

I'm amazed that he's survived on our list for as long as he has.
Last I've heard, he hasn't been officially delisted. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

We would be fine with Cox as first ruck, assisted by White. But an injury to Grundy and either of those two would be a real problem. White does fine as a relief ruckman but he's not someone you'd want as your main ruck, even for one game. I have never rated Keefe as a ruck. (Not knocking Keefe, or White either, just making the point that being tall doesn't make you a ruckman. White is a forward who can ruck a bit; Keeffe is a defender who doesn't really ruck.
Moore can certainly ruck but we'd be nuts to wreck his body the way we wrecked poor old Josh Fraser.
So yes, we really need a hardened ruckman playing twos who could do a Hudson if required. Or Gault, if we want to spend a senior list spot on someone who isn't going to play seniors unless we have some nasty injuries.
(I like Gault's ruck work much better than his forward work. Don't mind Gault in the ruck, but you'd always play Grundy or Cox ahead of him.)
Edit: forgot to mention that with Cox and White as rucks (assuming a Grundy injury) we would be very light on for tall forwards unless maybe Keeffe and Dunn were doing well in defence and we could swing Reid forward. I'd actually rather see us just play the one tall in Moore and rely on our rather impressive fleet of smalls and mediums - Elliott, Fasolo, WHE, Sidebottom (who is a natural forward), Mayne, Varcoe, Broomy - there is a lot of class there. With (potentially) much better delivery from our improved and (mostly) dud-kick-free half-backs and mids now, I'd rather like to see us go small in attack. Best to get a reserve ruck though anyway. _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |
