With Molloy & Rupert gone, we still need some hardness. Phillip Read could slot into that role as he goes at it and being an ex player of MM he may be a chance to get picked up.

Could he fit into the current team? Who goes out for him?

Thie is just a discussion I have only the view we are a little light on heavy weights.

I wouldn't describe him as a heavy weight but he does have a bit of mongrel in him. The only problem I would have with this guy is turning Collingwood into a haven for ex west coast people. We had Chad Rintoul a couple of years ago, Williams last year and we have appointed McKenna as assistant coach if we keep going this way we risk turning CFC into a former west coast old boys club

I agree with your point and I am sure many at Brisbane said the same thing (haven for ex pies) when Mathews went to Brisbane and other Collingwood people followed. 3 Flags later I don't hear them mentioning the same thing.

If someone is good enough you pick them up no matter where they come from.

He is a mongrel and that was one thing that was missing in the GF.

I think he would certainly add something to our list but we do have a lot of back pocket/back flank types already so i'm not sure if he could hold down a regular spot in the senior side.

I'm not sure about Matthews taking Collingwood people to Brisbane, I know Andrew Ireland went up their but he was an administrator and not involved in playing or coaching.

Your right on that Sultan I forgot.

As far as Read being the softest footballer you have ever seen Scotty, geez I reckon Rhyce Shaw took that prize in the GF.
