Do you really expect all these future stars to stay at GWS for not much pay? lol |
Yes they do and no I don't.
But, and it's a big but and a big if, if they are smart they are set up now for a decade.
They have a very good current 22, depth to burn and more high draft picks than Nic Nat could jump over. The long term plan should be to continually refresh.
Once you stockpile that much talent, you are going to lose some, so all they have to do is be strategic, swap out depth players for high draft picks each year, keep a constant influx of high quality kids coming in regardless of where they finish.
Also, they can trade for needs. Mummy and Heater aren't getting any younger, so they can trade or draft now for their replacements, play em in the NEAFL and bring them in when required.
Nothing labels a club as a destination club more than success, they will (if they're smart) be constantly active in the trade and draft for ages.
Gold coast and the Giants basically had the same concessions handed to them up front. One club has been really smart and managed everything beautifully, the other hasn't. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

1964 through to 1974 we were finalists every year but 68, in 1970 we beat the eventual premiers twice in the home and away season and then again in the first final but were swept away in the last half of the GF.
The Pies had the best list and were the best performed team over the year but lost the big dance.
NOTHING is written in stone people NOTHING.
2002 GF even with the might of the AFL behind them and the umpires in their back pocket the Bears just scraped in by 9 points. |

Only then will people wake up from their slumber to realise the AFL is a rigged competition taking fans for a ride. |
Regardless, if Joe Public can't score a ticket next week for a Pink Ducks vs. GWS/Welfare Grand Final, then we indeed have a problem... _________________ M I L L A N E 4 2 forever |

Post subject: Is the Machine's record under threat from the Welfare? | |

Given all the startlingly good footballers running around for Footscray, mostly paid for, of course, by our membership money, the perennial question must be asked - are they a threat to the Machine's great record? |

NO, very much harder to win 4 in a row these days. _________________ Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine! |
