I know we've got plenty already but to me the discussion is spread too thin & disparately in other threads including US elections, Islamic terror, Rita the butter eater or whatever. Mods can we take out the bits from the sections & put them in one please?
To this end I'll add Leunig's cartoon in today's Age: (made me laugh)
And an interesting article this evening also located in today's Age:
While Aly's approach of sending forgiveness in the face of bigotry may have the power to change individual minds, forgiveness cannot end the systematic persecution of racialised groups, and the people harmed by this brutality are right to express their pain, grief and anger.

My cats won't eat Whiskas - they won't even try it - just looked at it in disgust and walked away .............. _________________ “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” |

Unfortunately I don't have the function available to start a thread with your post up the top, WPT, but I started a new one nonetheless:

Because people of the Islamic faith are the only people who ever persecuted Jewish people in France (or Europe more generally)? |

Many are leaving recently that's very true. France has the biggest number of Muslims in Europe & the biggest number of Jews as well. France's colonial past as you know has resulted in North African Arabs Muslims especially live there over many years.
Jews face a difficult time in France & Sweden (& Europe) - but the last thing they need is right wing nutters using them as a cause too.
The issues are very complex.
Current Arabs from Syria etc have been brought up on political systems of hate of Israel & Jews - the extreme right wing nutjobs are only being expedient & exploitative.
Many Jewish groups are assisting Arab migrants from their despair in Europe as part of the wider community doing so. It's a fine balance. Many contradictions, issues of strain & quite complex issues that require far more effort than right wing & left wing nutbags would let you believe. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

That's true but Wokko is correct in in pointing out in part that Jews have been targeted & murdered in the name of Islam in France. Jews face a horrendous time in Malmo Sweden currently & recently let alone other places.
Copping it from the left & the right over-simplistic narratives about Israel let alone about Judaism.
Muslim anti semitism (yes I mean Jews) is shocking not only in the middle east but elsewhere - something which is not much dealt with.
In Turkey & Egypt FFS they did a TV serial on the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" was top rating in most Mid-East countries. People grow up on this. Of course this is not to say that Europe blameless as we all know. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |
