AFL clubs finding even better ways to celebrate milestones — but the Magpies opted out

NOT every AFL player gets to finish the celebrations of his milestone match with a win ... but along the way, he can certainly feel like a winner, as he should.

thompson not thomson. disrespectful to spell or type his name incorrectly. it's even in the article.
i did wonder about this on the night and thought we should have joined the guard of honour. what was the team doing at the time? anyway, it's hardly a hanging offence and not in the realm of the nsw origin team's misdemeanour when cam smith was talking. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

Stuff em… if teams have to form a guard of honour or suffer the wrath of some supporters sand media losers etc then it is hardly a show of good sportsmanship… pretty forced really!
They hate us anyway lets go with it… sometimes you need a little extra aggro or defiance - might be sen as unsportsmanlike but who cares… what's more important is a winning culture at our club! If we have to be the 'bad' guys so be it _________________ Love us or Hate us... we are Collingwood - you can't ignore the Mighty Magpies!!! |

Of all the original state clubs prior to AFL South Australia absolutely hated the big V as interstate games between Vic and West.Aus. were generaly close
but Sth.Aus continaly got belted.
A lot of that crap is still ingrained in those wankers _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

I thought they were for opposition players your team especially respected, not for guys who've run around for a long time to little or no effect. He's not Andrew McLeod. |

I would have no objection to a guard of honour after the game. Just nothing before the game. We go over there to beat them, not to kiss them. After the game is different matter. Not sure why nothing was done by our players after the game, but is it possible that Adelaide FC didn't raise it with us, so should the players have spontaneously done something to respect Thompson's career. We lost. Our players just want to get off the ground. Can't blame the players for wanting to get off the ground in a hostile environment where they lost. |

It's clearly offensive to women and encourages domestic violence. _________________ Defender...........

It's one of those things that's nice if a club decides to do it as a gesture of generosity and sportsmanship; but once it becomes mandatory then it's empty and meaningless. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |
