Interesting voting this week.
Grundy got a 5 and a 4, Adams a 5 and a 3, Cloke a 4 and a 2, Sidey a 3 and a 2 and Howe a 1. Thus, one coach must have voted 5 Grundy, 4 Cloke, 3 Adams, 2 Sidey and the other must have voted 5 Adams, 4 Grundy, 3 Sidey, 2 Cloke. It is impossible to say which of those sets of votes also allocated Howe the 1. |
Interesting mix of votes
I wouldn't had it that way either way actually like the coaches
I rated Howe's game highly thought he was around 3rd/4th best on ground
Cloke Grundy Grundy Cloke any mix would do
Didn't have Adams as my best he was the same as Howe 3rd/4th
Also thought Reid Sinclair White were important and could have scraped in for a vote or 2 each and wouldn't have been out of place
One thing for sure no pies player will be winning the medal this year |

This is interesting as I think Pendles and Treloar are in a 2 horse race for the Copeland with daylight 3rd
Also I would have Reid Grundy Sidebottom Adams all fairly close as the next best in no particular order
Reid with only 8 votes all year seems weird i thought he would have been in AA contention along with Pendles and Treloar (who I don't think will make it looking at the way Sloane Dangerfield Shuey Parker Selwood etc are playing)
Honestly Reid could be our only real chance with maybe Pendles or Treloar finding a bench spot at best |

^^^ Some weeks, I think the coaches just make their votes up and I wouldn't recommend over-analysing them. Between them, they gave votes to the same 5 Collingwood players as I did, this week, but sometimes I look at their votes and wonder how a Collingwood player or players got or didn't get votes from them and I'm left bewildered.
As for Treloar, I think he's been somewhat overrated on Nick's all season. Some midfielder is going to get 30-35 disposals every week, because that's just how the game is played these days. In my view, the team suffers when Treloar is the last disposal in the midfield chain because he just can't use it consistently the way Sidebottom and, to a lesser extent, Pendlebury can. Pendlebury is, of course, better than Sidebottom - I'm just talking ball-use, here - but the two are, by far, the best users of uncontested ball at Collingwood and I want to see other players, including Treloar, doing more of the hard work and gifting it to our two elite users on the outside, in the clear, and then doing their chasing back for them, so they don't have to use their energy closing their opponents down. We won the 2010 flag in part because Thomas chased everyone everywhere, Ball made the opposition apologise for trying to get a clearance and Swan was, well, the Great Dane. Those other two, though - good footballers as they were in their own right - did their own defensive work and took up the slack for the players who generally did more damage with the ball by foot. Sidebottom and Pendlebury are good weapons - they are wasted chasing the opposition around, not least because neither of them is quick enough to do it effectively. |

Martin had another big game. 43 disposals and 2 goals.
Griffiths, Cotchin and Merrett will get the minors.
Dangerfield looked Geelong's best.
Burgoyne, Kennedy, Parker and both Mitchells should draw the votes from the Thursday night match. _________________ Donny.

Docherty had a big game in a losing side.
Shuey, Cripps were good for the Weagles.
Boak and Robbie Gray were best for PA. _________________ Donny.

Can't argue with any of that P4S makes loads of sense and especially after watching Treloar butcher it bad yesterday
I have a mate who does the Brownlow vote as a predictor each week and generally gets it right (admittedly there's not much you can get wrong like last year with Fyfe) but he actually gets within 2-3 votes of the players as well.
This year to date as of the Crows game he has Treloar as our leading vote getter (11 votes) followed by Pendles (9 votes) with Reid Grundy Sidey all tied on 5 votes each
I've been saying for a while we need to use our players strengths more and Treloar is good at running but his delivery is ordinary so he needs someone he can handball to not kick. I would try Varcoe in the same role as Pendles and Sidey his skill level is better than most in our team as well |

Yet more evidence that DE is probably the most useless stat out there. _________________ kill for collingwood! |

I agree. I bet the 19.4% were when he had just burst through a pack or skipped away from his opponent only to fluff the kick into the forward line, nicely spotting up a defender. At critical times.
Must say he wasn't the only one last night though. _________________ "The night is a very dark time for me" Chaz Michael Michaels |

I'm stunned Donny I remember vividly on 3 occasions kicking forward when on the run he kicked it straight to a 2-1 on contest or directly to a crows player after running and bouncing.
I would have been stunned if someone told me it was above 60% eff |

It's a simple fact that 8 out of 10 of his disposals either found a team mate or put a team mate in a position to run onto the ball.
Not my figures.
Compare that with Grundy's 56.5 DE%. And yet many of our members voted him above Treloar. _________________ Donny.

Had a look at the stats for the season on afltables.com. I think he's up there leading the club for clangers for the season. Will be unstoppable if he can fix that up.
Meanwhile whipping boy Goldenboot Sinclair is doing very well in the clanger and DE stakes. _________________ "The night is a very dark time for me" Chaz Michael Michaels |
