Post subject: Peter McKenna on SEN - audio link added
|
Peter McKenna and "Dipper" have been on SEN with Kevin Bartlett for the present hour. Fabulous listening. I presume those who'd like to hear it will be able to play a podcast. Those of you who are churlish about Bartlett (he wore the wrong colours but was a wonderful player) might do well to listen to the respect and genuine affection he shows in speaking to Pete.
Update: here is the link: http://www.sen.com.au/audio#HGhL3FSZaRyWxv0j.97 |

Maybe try again later. I just tried to go the SEN site, rather than the link, and the entire site seems to be down. |

SEN's web-site is still off-line - there's a "We're performing some site maintenance - back soon" message up at the moment. |

Now it's a 404. Pity, would be good listening. _________________ Two more flags before I die! |

Yes - see my previous post, though - I think it's because the entire site is not functioning, rather than because of a particular problem with the link. I'll keep an eye on this and re-post a link, when (if) possible.
In the meantime, so that the thread isn't entirely content-free (I had hoped people would listen to him speak, rather than just get a summary) some of Pete's observations included that:
1. Lockett was the best FF he saw. Hudson and Dunstall were pretty good, too.
2. Swan is Collingwood's best-player and he thought we would struggle this year without Swan and Elliott.
3. Although it is not news, he confirmed that he was concussed by Tuddy in the 1970 GF and added that the doctors told the coach that Macca could not go back on (but the doctors' advice was rejected and on he stayed - he thinks that was done in order to maintain the "team structure"). |

^ cheers, P4S. It'd be good to listen, but the summary is also interesting. That 1970 GF fell on that moment. In my view, Macca should still have been paid a mark or a free when about 40 out, dif, with about three minutes to go. Jolley put his whistle to his mouth and didn't blow, and the ball went directly down the other end to Jesaulenko who snapped the sealer. McKenna was the fulcrum of that game, not Hopkins. _________________ Two more flags before I die! |

Thanks Jezza.
As a matter of interest, how'd you locate this, given that the SEN site is still frizzled? |

No worries, P4S
I did a Google search of "McKenna and Dipper SEN" and found a link that had various SEN recordings including this interview. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023

Excellent. It didn't occur to me that it would have been stored by anyone away from the SEN site. |
