I had exactly the same experience last year when I visited San Francisco in January.

Just tested something, the new TV (well, newish, I've had it for a few months now) plays .MKV files straight off the portable hard drive plugged into the USB port.

Well Washington is an eye opener. The memorials are amazing, the white house very impressive. As is the amount of secret service guys patrolling! But gees, the poverty so close in to the city was shocking. And scary. Not a place to be walking around at night!
Picked up a TRUMP. Tshirt for hubby, and a Hilary one for me!
We only stayed 1 night. Accomodation is expensive there, and not very highly rated. You should have seen their faces when I told em where we were staying- in a local university - for deaf students! And they staff the joint!
A lesson in patience for the invisible disability for someone!
Off to watch the 410 sprint cars in Mechanicsberg shortly, tomorrow Rocky steps, and the end of the road trip! New York here we come!
Cheers guys _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

You couldn't make this up!
We are at a speedway, way out in the boondocks of the United States of America, we stand for the national anthem, take off our hats- and advance Australia fair comes on! So we sing along! Got a lot of looks!
Then the lone Aussie won his heat and I yelled Aussie Aussie Aussie, oi oi oi!
When he lost the final I said to the others "you bloody Aussies are hopeless"! _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

My bathroom is finished
Bathroom was entirely gutted, tiles from floor to ceiling (soft light grey porcelain, bath, walk in shower, new vanity, new ceiling, new loo - we had tiles falling off in our 1940's bathroom, sagging ceiling, paint in disrepair, a real shocker & don't know how we put up with it for so long
Builder was a shocker & some of his tradies were a bit rough. The Afghani tilers were great _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

Cheers thanks. Xx
Looked out the window last night and the Empire State Building is all lit up in red white and blue. Man this place in manic! Too much for me. So many people! And the rudeness is a cultural shock! After 5 days of 'yes mam, no mam, anything else you need mam?'not the people In our nice hotel, they even upgraded us, but elsewhere, gees!
Enjoying the sights though, as we went into the holland tunnel yesterday all I could hear was John Mclane saying 'they're taking the tunnel"!
WPT where's the photos??? Sounds great. _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

Empire State Building at 8am, intrepid air space museum at 10am, Statue of Liberty and land marks cruise 12.30 til 2. Then me and junior got hire bikes and rode along the waterfront to level with Central Park, up the hill to the park and did the circuit before heading back to the pier to return the bike. I discovered two things! It's a loooonnng way, and there are some big bloody hills in the park! Good fun though! Something different! I was struggling up a hill determined not to get off, and I heard a loud speaker "please clear the bike path" somehow I missed 5 cop cars with the lights spinning sneaking up behind me! Well the road was closed, I wasn't looking for it! Then walked back another couple of miles to the hotel! Knackered! It's amazing alright! Mind boggling!!
I was talking to my daughter in Melbourne, told her what we had been doing and she says 'when were you in Central Park? How long ago?" "Some guy stepped on a bomb there". Ok glad I missed that.
It's the Fourth of July, so I'm expecting some patriotic overload today, bring it on! Cheers! _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |
