Admirable, but unless he's resigned to retiring, then it's a dumb move. Why risk him doing damage so late into a write-off season.
TBH, I reckon Swan is subtly telling us, he wants to play again this year because he's not going around again in 2017. _________________ Fighting against the objectification of woman. |

If he was planning on retiring then he's doing it badly wrong. If he doesn't play agin this season and retires at the end of it he's up for a $400k insurance payout. If he comes back and plays, then retires he gets nada.If he signs a new contract to play on next year he's likely to get less than $400k in a new contract.

Yep, on our current trajectory he won't be back in 2017
He clearly stated that he'd play on if there was a chance at another flag, but if we finish lower than last year we can kiss our most important player of the last 8 years goodbye! That would be a bloody disaster! _________________ "If at first you dont succeed...

^^^ He'd be training to make sure he complies with the good faith and best endeavours obligations under the policy.
As it turns out, that's much smarter than a fifth year that has a trigger clause. |

All well and good if he gets back this year but I'd be happy for him to take it slow and be cherry ripe for next season, he'd be mad not to play on while he still has the ability, I reckon if all goes well with his recovery he's probably got another 2 years in him. _________________ Defender...........

So you think Swanny is all about the money?
I think Swan's happy with what he has earned and wants to play to not waste his pre-season work. He can then retire happily and not have to do another preseason. |

Exact opposite. If Swanny was all about the money he'd put his foot up, coast out the season and retire with an extra $400k. Read what I posted.
I think he has pride in his performance and wants to play again this season and after that. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Amen. You don't get to be as good as Swan without a serious work ethic. |
