NATHAN Buckley and Collingwood have agreed to a contract extension and an announcement is imminent.

The twist is the deal could be for an extra year and not the two years which has been widely tipped.

It would mean Buckley has the 2016 and 2017 seasons to cement himself as the long-term coach at Collingwood.

It’s understood Buckley proposed the 12-month extension, which could be ratified at a board meeting ahead of next Thursday’s annual general meeting.

Fabulous news.

The stars seem to be lining up very nicely for Collingwood.

Excellent. Get it done, and then everybody can shut up about it until September, and with an ounce of luck, October.

He has a great young group of men with loads of potential for him to build a
finals side this season.

It is not out of the question to go all the way but i suspect not this year so
if they go deep then he must be given another crack at it in 2017

Footy's Back, It's a relieve the pressure signing. Seriously the Club could give him a 5 year extension and show him their support. The Collingwood Football Club can sack him anytime and pay him out if the team doesn't improve. The Club is one of the few that has the $$ to do this.

Who didn't think this would happen?

Every club must go into a season planning and assuming success.
It therefore makes sense to extend for 1 season.

Thank god it wasn't the 2 years that Pert leaked to Jonny Ralph.
Maybe the 2 year leak was to make this announcement easier or maybe to test the waters.

I recall that Malthouse received a number of similar one year extensions so it is consistent with past practices.

Having invested a large sum on us to make top-4 in 2016 it is good news personally. Players will no longer be questioned/distracted and it should be a relief to all.

However the internal blow torch needs to be turned up. If there is a hint of slippage in any standard Bucks should be made accountable. Already many are questioning the legitimacy of the frisbee story.

I hope this announcement to the players is given with a pre-emptive Didak/Shaw like riot act reading by Ed and Balmey.

MM never missed finals 3 years in a row and this list is too freaking good to piss another year away.

His fate will always be entwined with Eddie's; they are a package deal.
