Quote: | Now 22, he has been given a second chance by the Magpies, who envision a new role from the former Oakleigh Charger.
“We will have a look at him more across half forward and the wing,” General Manager of List Management Derek Hine told Collingwood Media. |
Good Idea as we have plenty of HBFers

I got Collingwoods error/404 page - which is friggin awesome! |
I liked it too. Just like Magro did to Jezza, your page has been knocked out.
The vid is on the CFC page, they must have changed the address. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Low expectations is a realistic attitude to have for Tim Golds. I think he is primarily an athlete who may lack the physicality to be a success at AFL level. However he was a highly rated junior and grew up playing with the likes of Taylor Adams and Adam Treloar and I think he may have also played in the Nathan Buckley coached under 16 team, which would explain why he has ended up at Collingwood. I'll be watching his development in the VFL to see if he is competitive in the one-on-one contests to decide if he has a future at the highest level. Good luck Tim. _________________ Collingwood Domination. Envy of the Nation! |

From what I've seen and based on the type of player he is (which we have an abundance of) I wouldn't hold any expectations.
If it was me, I would have preferred to have taken a gamble on an 18 year old Brendan Abbot type (heaps of upside to work with).
I feel there will be a number of wingers/flankers ahead of Golds and we have filled the void of 'mature age rookie' with Wills, Smith and Thomas. |

Yeah fair enough comment but the club knows best and cant please everyone all the time I guess. If they picked someone else, sure as hell someone would have asked as to why they didn’t pick Golds....
It's a total no win situation purely based on judgment by those best placed within the club to make one. _________________ Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine! |

Of course, and we all trust the club to make the right decisions. I wish Golds all the best and hope he has a successful career.
However from an outsiders POV, i feel we have topped up significantly in this area (winger/flanker around the age of 20-22) and may have used such a late pick to adhere to one of our perceived 'weaknesses' (small crumbing forward/young key position forward).
Just my opinion, but isn't that what we are all here to do? |

Your point was a very good one dude which makes perfect sense.
I was just presenting the other side of the coin as a matter of interest. _________________ Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine! |

I'm going to back it in there's a very detailed explanation as to why our powers that be have invested in this punt. They clearly see the potential and we should all realise by now there are never any guarantees when it comes to a playing working out as hoped. I remember a kid called James Hird who barely made the cut in a draft many moons ago and Essendon saw something. I think they would have seen him as a rangy wing/half forward type too. _________________ Billy Picken, the great No. 25 in the sky! |
