I was listening to trade radio yesterday and Wallace's assessment on Carlton's list was scathing! It warms the heart to hear that and I don't think he's the first person to suggest that Carlton's list is miles off from being finals contenders let alone premiership contenders.
Of course reading TankingCarlton, they believe Wallace just hates Carlton and isn't objectively assessing their list _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023

Have heard Wallace before on how getting Judd really cost Carlton.
Traded picks to get McLean, Warnock during Judd era to give them best chance of winning flag whilst Judd was playing. Holes in their list due to these decisions. Getting Malthouse just made a bad situation worse.
To be fair, had Fevola not been such a moron, they may well of made the prelim in 2011 had he still been with them. |

Yes Carlton devoted far too much time and its resources towards ensuring that Judd would somehow win a premiership with them despite it being delusional from everyone else's perspective.
Judd as an individual was their best player between 2008-2014 but they were absolute rubbish when it came to draft selections and recruiting good players all around the ground during their lean years. Carlton had a strong midfield and one good forward option in Fevola and that was it.
Carlton should have been far better between 2009-2011 but ultimately a semi final elimination was the best they could achieve much to the delight of all of us _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023

Funny article!
In all seriousness though Carlton has obtained five players during this trade period. Let's take a look at these selections:
1). Sam Kerridge - 22 Years Old (27 Games, 23 Goals)
2). Lachie Plowman - 20 Years Old (18 Games, 1 Goal)
3). Jed Lamb - 23 Years Old (22 Games, 17 Goals) - Carlton is his third club in his short career.
4). Andrew Phillips - 24 Years Old (14 Games, 5 Goals)
5). Liam Sumner - 22 Years Old (12 Games, 9 Goals)

There is some great gold in this article!
Some selected paragraphs for your consideration
Carlton had a good trade period? Spare me
By Ryan Buckland, 22 Oct 2015
http://www.theroar.com.au/2015/10/22/carlton-had-a-good-trade-period-spare-me/
"Make no mistake, Carlton have had an absolutely dreadful trade period, and done almost exactly the opposite of what they should have done as far as recalibrating their list goes."
"By my reckoning, Carlton had two very clear choices: take the hard road and clean out the top end of the list, or the easy one by moving arguably better assets to get a slightly better haul of draft picks. They chose the latter."
"The list profile has not radically shifted. All that has happened in this trade period is that the Blues have lost some good, young talent that’s just about to enter its collective prime, replaced it with the leftover depth talent of an expansion franchise, and taken a punt on a shallow draft."
"Carlton had four very good players aged 24 or under coming into this trade period: Bell, Menzel, Blaine Boekhurst and Patrick Cripps. They traded two of them away."
"You think the Blues had a good trade period? Spare me. They have gone backwards, remarkably so, without any prospect of moving forwards." _________________ Sydney Collingwood Supporters Club

Blues in the red: Carlton to post $2 million loss, break debt ceiling
November 10, 2015 - 10:00PM
Mark Hawthorne
Quote: | Carlton will post one of the biggest financial losses in the club's history, and are expected to be $2 million in the red after notching just four wins for the 2015 season.
The result follows a $1.6 million loss for the 2014 season, but of more concern to the Blues is the fact they are in danger of breaching a "debt ceiling" imposed by the AFL, which underwrites a maximum $5 million Westpac overdraft for every club in the competition. According to the most recent accounts, Carlton have overdrawn that facility.
Blues president Mark LoGiudice has briefed influential club figures in the past month on the significant trading loss and debt issues. |

It is considered unseemly and distasteful to take joy in someone's misery in their hour of need...
...so, I guess I'll just have to live with that!

Couldn't happen to a nicer club!
Quote: | Carlton announce a loss of nearly $1 million after horror 2015 season
CARLTON’s miserable 2015 season brought about a loss of almost $1 million, fuelled by a decrease in attendances, player injury payments and sweeping coaching and staff changes.
The Blues announced the big loss on Saturday, with president Mark LoGiudice saying he was confident the club could make a profit again next year.
LoGiudice urged Carlton supporters to stay patient as he was confident the tide would start to turn off and off the field.
“Aside from our win-loss record there are other factors that led to this result, but the board and management have meticulously reviewed the club’s operations and Carlton members should be optimistic about our future,” LoGiudice said.
“Our management team is committed to returning Carlton to a financial surplus during 2016, this will be through strong cost control and growing traditional and non-traditional revenue streams.”
Carlton won only four games and finished on the bottom of the ladder in a year in which it sacked coach Mick Malthouse and ended with one of the biggest list transformations in the club’s history.
Admitting it was “one of the most challenging years” in the club’s history, the Blues released a statement that said the loss was $0.9 million (earnings before depreciation, amortisation and government grants |

And now Clem Smith in trouble for a a fight in Chapel Street. I would have thought after Fevola the scum would have warned the players about those hotspots.
The late Robbie Flower coached my mates kids team. He used to say the best place was to go to restaurants and Cafes and have a wine with your meal, and maybe a few beers, but where possible local.. No chance of some idiot wanting to make a hero of himself. And in summer adopt a local cricket or golf club and just don't put yourself in situations where unknown wankers can have a go at you. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |
