So sweet, could not have happened to a better bunch of bastards. Mind you, we were there a number of years back and turned it around wonderfully. Hope they do not. _________________ No one needs to get hurt, it's only business. |

It is no good when your arch enemy becomes very weak.
I enjoyed the Carlton/Collingwood ding dongs from the 70's and 80's
much more than the present matches.

Nah,
I hope the club folds and has to merge or relocate. But not until we get our positive winning record back against them. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

It also goes to prove that their management structure is wrong and it has been wrong for decades. Carton have been too influenced by corporate types who contribute a limited amount of financial support into the club. Some of these individuals in return take massive benefits as a result. At the same time they impose far too much influence on the running of the club and some are very motivated by self interest.
Some are critical of the structure that Ed has created at Collingwood. It certainly is a model that has dangers associated with it by its very structure. The fact is that he has peppered the Collingwood board with people from various walks of life. All of these people contribute something very tangible to the club.
At the same time it is hard to run any organisation when you have wayward dissenting voices amongst the ranks at board level as it limits the effectiveness of the board and the club as a whole. In response Ed has made it difficult for outsiders to challenge and join the board. Despite this situation the management group that encompasses the board and the clubs senior management such as Pert have proved to be prudent and effective with very tangible and measurable benefits.
Not only have Carton declined but off field we are the strongest we have ever been and the gap us and Carlton been greater in the modern era. _________________ Now Retired - Every Day Is A Saturday |

Each to their own Thommo, but I was bought up in a tough school of thought. NEVER . . . EVER give an opponent a break . . . EVER.
Whilst Carlton were scamming the system they lorded it over the league, now they are down and out . . . BUT . . . and this is the important part . . . they are still totally unrepentant and believing in their systems.
A worthy opponent merits respect, however slimeballs such as these merit only utter and unremitting contempt. |

Thommo your right on this. We need Carlton in the comp! It's what makes a Pies supporter great! Nothing brings out from us "senior supporters" more passion that when we face them!! beating Carlton is pure pleasure and getting beaten is an absolute despair, difficult to get over even months after the event!
We know they are cheats! But I'd love them in the comp especially now when we can look forward to leveling our win loss ledger with them!

Thanks Mossi
Posters have to understand that supporting a Club is purely tribal!
Without the tribe and it's bonds and culture you are left with nothing.
Losing to Carlton in the GF in 1979 and 1981 still keeps me awake at night.
Seriously, I didn't sleep for a week after each loss in 79 and 81!
But my best memories of footy lies in us beating the Scum.
Billy Picken vs Mark McClure is just bliss to me.
I want a strong Carlton, so when we beat them I will sleep very well.
Beating GWS is just so ordinary. _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |
