Should have lost by 10 goals. A very meek, lame, soft, pathetic, heartless effort that. The turnovers were never ending. The skills were appalling and our rucks were barely competitive, destroyed at every center clearance all day. And our mids looked out of their depth, as soon as they stopped their tackling pressure they were cut to ribbons. Another frustrating game of Magpies football, another weekend ruined. _________________ RED "BABY" CAVANAUGH: Didn't hear what the bet was.

Funny, that - check out the respective ladder positions.
Collingwood actually played reasonably competitively and the game plan held up well, considering that they had to cover the loss of Cloke, Adams and Elliott. Some of you have ridiculous expectations about what the team will do when its entire forward line gets a calf injury 5 minutes into the first quarter.
It was also great to see one or two of you getting in early to bag Sidebottom: it's always that little bit harder to bag him after the 37 disposal game. |
right on all counts. White is not the answer, but the bronx cheers were a much weaker effort than his. _________________ Two more flags before I die! |

^^ I thought White was OK. What as he supposed to do with 2 players on him. He did many right things bringing the ball to ground. Didn't think he was bad.
I didn't think much of the game from either side to be honest with you.
I didn't think it was overly exciting by either side.
To be honest, the thought of Etihad and 4:35, I wasn't really feeling it to be honest.
Greenwood is to never leave the side! Brilliant first game.
Varcoe... My god man... brilliant!

We didn't play like the top 8 team. Even though we are in the 8, our game plan today resembled one of a team trying to not lose by a big margin, rather than trying to win. _________________ Fighting against the objectification of woman.

I heard tonight that Seeds has been playing injured with regular jabs in his backside / hip area. Dissappointing but we need some persective: better chance for higher draft selections _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

Never looked likely, a bad loss but one that wasn't unexpected.
A bit more composure in the forward line and we may have given it a shake _________________ "The last thing he expected WAS THE FIRST THING HE GOT!!!!!"

Wonder how long Cloke and Elliott will be out for? Also wonder what tall they'll bring in to replace Cloke? Gault, Moore or Marsh? |

Well, yes - that was always going to be the case. I don't quite get how when the completely obvious unfolds so many posters on Nick's seem surprised. |

We clearly have the ability to limit the scoring of the best scoring teams - the defensive pressure from our mids and our backline in particular is to be commended.
We do get nutted in the midfield more than we should, but this will be a strength of ours when we have Swan, Greenwood, Crisp and Adams all firing together to set up Pendles, Sidebottom, etc
We lack front and centre crumbers in the forward line and that little bit of polish that turns points into goals. I can see potential in De Goey and Broomhead, but Fasolo and Elliott need to add this to their game instead of playing purely as tall marking smalls.
I will be interested to see how we play without Cloke. I don't mind a small forward line with the resting ruck in the goalsquare to bring the ball to ground. We just need crumbers. _________________ All We Can Be |

Hard too watch with delivery to the opposition. So many errors and fumbles. Sick of Toovey and Blair getting a game. Ben Kennedy did not set the world on fire but he is still young and leaves the other Ben for dead. White was hopeless and needs a spell. Please Bucks get Scharenberg and Karnezis in. Tape up Reid and bring him back in the ones when he is ready. No good stuffing around in the twos. If he doesn't make we should cut him loose. Why wait for this team to develop, just win the rest and have crack. |
