I was at the game and haven't seen the replay, but did the media get into Varcoe for the head incident or was the view (like most Pies fans around me) that Rioli played for the free?
I can't believe I'm saying this but Varcoe would be a big loss. |
It is informative that the media is whining about Varcoe but he is the one with his head bandaged. Yes, of course Rioli played for it. |
surely rioli's action can be put forward as exhibit a for why the rule was brought in to stamp out driving with the head. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

At this point I believe the next three players in line to come in will be Greenwood, Sinclair and Grundy. Scharenberg needs more VFL. If all three play well today they will be close.
Out: Moore, Maynard
In: Grundy, Greenwood
Being a young team we need to keep rotating a player or two through to inject fresh legs. I think we'll see Marsh and Scharenberg within a month. Then of course there is Reidy...hmm....go Reidy. _________________ Magpies love pies(Lol) |

I wouldn't have Shaz ahead of Marsh, at the moment and I think Marsh's run and speed is probably needed to cover for Toovey's recent dip. Marsh can play that role and Shaz, at this stage, can't. |

It is a very rare luxury to have so many to pick from. Buckley does have a conundrum on his hands. I don't think any of the team were really "poor" last night. We could argue maybe Eliott might need a rest, but would be a loss. Everytime i think maybe White is turning a corner i find myself asking if someone with just more consistency could play the position (hence my feeling on giving Moore another shot). From my armchair position all that seems to make sense to me is that:
If we play both Witts and Grundy, we can not also play White.
If we bring back Greenwood it will be at the expense of a Moore, Maynard, maybe a Blair (as he was the sub), but again i thought Blair was not bad for the short time he was on the ground.
Could we stretch Ports defense by playing an extra tall? does that makes us too top heavy? I would love to see Scharenberg come in...does it come at the expense of Toovey? can we afford to lose experience from an inexperienced back line?
One from left field, what about Karnezis? has been kicking goals in the VFL. could play both forward and Mid. _________________ "To know nothing of events before your birth, is to forever remain a child" - Cicero (Roman Lawyer/Senator) 46 BCE. |

Port are going to be white hot on Thursday both to honour Walsh and to try to get their season back on track.
We can not lose the next two and have a four game lose streak as our young magpies play on confidence.
This IS the season defining game for Collingwood. _________________ Fighting against the objectification of woman. |

I very much agree, I have a very strong feeling we will have to weather a storm of a first quarter. As long as we can stick with them i think we could wear them down over a game as i think Ports endurance has fallen away this year. So i think the first 20mins will be season defining, in as much as we are still in and around the top 4. But more so in the sense that we can show we have broken the run of losses that defined the second half of last season. _________________ "To know nothing of events before your birth, is to forever remain a child" - Cicero (Roman Lawyer/Senator) 46 BCE. |

SO you think Bucks and Selectors where total and utter Idiots playing Moore
He Did his Job. Competed very well and made sure Cloke did not get a Heap of Double and Trippled Teamed. Did not take Advantage of it though. Moore barley got Kicked too _________________ I am Da Man |

Very harsh. Was being touted as an AA very recently. If he's carrying something well and good give him a rest. If not, I don't see dropping him to the magoos will promote his development nor boost his confidence. _________________ Four legged animals good, two legged animals better |
