Thankfully as we discovered they were all headed for the Congo and after a few hours wandering around- Kigali is just fine - bloody hilly but!! |
Sheesh. Take care M.
Is that what they mean by an action adventure holiday? |
nah I'm just getting soft in my old age - confronting yes it's been a while since I saw in real life what we see on the TV - actually dangerous not really
Wonderful place - the Rwandan people are very shy and won't speak first but once you say hello you get beaming smiles in return and they open up. They are still nervous at identifying where they come from suppose the horrible genocide did that - and it is very obvious a whole generation is missing - very sad
It is beautiful country and so clean no plastic bags are allowed in Rwanda and the first Saturday of every month every Rwandan is required to clean up the streets etc.
It's very hilly and men and women old and young walk many miles up and down the hills carrying their supplies on their heads and push bikes - it's beautifully green and the food is fresh and tasty. I have never seen seen tomatoes so red and they are the avocodas are to die for!!
Tomorrow is our first trek up the montain to see the gorillas - I'm so excited I could pee my pants not sure how I will get to sleep!
We have crossed into Uganda and are now 10 minutes from the Congo border and I feel safer than I ever would venturing to King St after dark
Expect ravings in the what made happy post tomorrow _________________ “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”

Sounds like heaven. The clean up rule is brilliant. Sounds like Australia and so called first world countries could learn a lot. Enjoy the gorillas, I'm so jealous! _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

Damn. Tap a vein on that and all you need is some ground white pepper, tabasco and a celery stick _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

I must live in a bubble because I didn't know that 'Ape' was a specific racial taunt and I was also clueless about this one too....
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/victoria/jim-crow-hill-near-mansfield-has-named-removed-after-it-was-deemed-racially-derogatory/story-fnpp4dl6-1227407816235
Jim Crow Hill near Mansfield has named removed after it was deemed racially derogatory
Quote: | A VICTORIAN council has been ridiculed for removing the name of a hill called after an early stockman whose name was deemed racially derogatory.
The Office of Geographic Names ordered Mansfield Council to remove or change the name of Jim Crow Hill.
It said Jim Crow refers to an 1828 US minstrel show song Jump Jim Crow, where a white man blackened his face to resemble a poor Negro.
It claimed the term has been widely used in Australia to disparage black people.
But locals are angry at the decision, claiming Jim Crow was an early stockman who had a hut on the hill. |

American cultural imperialism at its finest. The Yanks have colonised our political correctness!
(Another good one is Australian social justice types criticising local festival-goers for wearing Native American head-dresses. What country are we in again? ) _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Believe it or not, I was politically-corrected by an American today! It was almost, well, erotic to be on the receiving end for once _________________ In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.

Searching for old boyfriends on Facebook- and discovering 2 of them are friends! They didn't know each other. And I dumped one for the other. Memo to self, no drunk messages to either! Scary shit! _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

A neighbour two doors up put up a huge flagpole with an Australian Flag in his front garden.
WTF, this is not a country town, this is not the outer suburbs where I expect such things to exist. Bloody St Kilda supporter. Looks of WASP / Anglo stock who shifted here about 5 years ago. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |
