Post subject: Our GWS win last year
|
I know we aren't playing them this week but it has just occured to me that our win against the GWS last year, on their turf, with significant injuries might have been more worthy than we think given the form GWS are currently showing. I'm taking it as a positive sign for the future. _________________ kymbo |

In the words of Woody Guthrie, "take it easy, but take it". |

We better well and truly beat the Suns today because after watching GWS demolish the Crows this afternoon, God help us when we play them again. GWS to make the top four? Ludicrous! Not anymore. They are the real deal, believe me. We have to bank every four points we can because we are not going to win a game against the Giants this season. _________________ You can keep your Locketts. The late-season victory against GWS last year was a memorable one because we were decimated with injuries at the time and were playing with two guys short as a result of injuries to Swan and Young and our young playing group actually showed some character and determination to win in a very scrappy affair up in Sydney.
The Giants were a poor side last year and are playing far better football this year obviously but I thought the victory last year provided supporters with enough hope that the future was bright if we could stick fat with this young playing group. I think most of us didn't treat the victory against the Giants as being particularly significant at the time but the Giants did win two out of their last three of the season with wins against Melbourne and Western Bulldogs in-between our match so maybe it was underestimated but the Giants were a far weaker side at the time so I wouldn't read too much into it to be honest.
I thought the match was more significant with the way we conducted ourselves rather than who we beat. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023
