Do you think commentators have teams David? do you think they are professional enough to that it doesn't cloud their judgement....
I would say no to that question, I can tell all day long who a certain commentator might be hoping will win on any given broadcast, as far as i'm concerned it's obvious.
Why would umpires be any different.
Has Judd not had a very good run over the years? how about Garry jnr, how about as has been said Pendles for us? he clearly gets a better run than some of our other players.
I'm not even sure "umpired like champions" is a conscious thought process, but it's obviously exists you only need to watch a game without a vested interest to see it. |

If Macavaney or Dwayne Russell umpired our games, or blasts from the past, Huddo, Quarterbrain or Throbbie Walls we'd get robbed something shocking.
Richo, Commetti, Darcy, Would be reasonably fair and have integrity.
Out of the jounralists. Caro, Robbo, Mark Stevens or the retired Mike Sheehan would absolutely crucify us.
Connolly, would be fair but I can't think of many others that would have a semblance of integrity.
No doubt some of these umpires would have bias and no doubt it would reflect how they umpire our games.
Thanks, Ive got Stevic on notice into the future. |

I'm reporting the AFL to ASADA. They want drugs out of sport but then the AFL puts three dopes out on the ground. _________________ If you used to barrack for the 'Pies, you never barracked for the 'Pies. |

Giving players free kicks for dropping the knees really needs to stop. So many Tiger players got away with it today. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Umpiring has been OK this year for most games including our games… they were pretty poor today though!
I have umpired in the past and a lot of umps are just people with biases - some of these are almost unconscious - but some umps really disliked certain players or attitudes and even joked about it and acted accordingly when umpiring. This was not AFL level but still the hatred for Colingwood is all pervasive which makes our victories that much more hard fought! Even up here in regional NSW people will have a go at you when they find out you support the pies… it is what it is! _________________ Love us or Hate us... we are Collingwood - you can't ignore the Mighty Magpies!!! |

Disgraceful performance from the maggots today, although we had enough chances to make it a moot point _________________ "The last thing he expected WAS THE FIRST THING HE GOT!!!!!"

The umps, Schmidt I'm looking at you, brought them back into the game and never let them leave.
White twice in the corridor in the 2nd or 3rd got his arms chopped and the ball went back down their way and one of our guys breathed on them and they got a goal from a free kick.
I feel real bad bagging the umpires and it's something I don't ever do, but tonight they were woeful!
This is the first time I've been so annoyed and pretty much hurt by the fact the maggos brought them back into it and let them stay! |

My 13 year old son umpired his first game of footy yesterday.
He had to sit there this afternoon up to halftime and watch those umpires be absolutely shocking. Not a great example for the kids of today who may want to join the ranks to see performances like that.

Out of curiosity what was your sons take on the umpiring?? So much respect for the folk that decide to umpire. Doesn't mean I don't get bloody annoyed by them!! _________________ Side By Side Forever |
