Don't want to sound like I'm bagging the kid but his last two games haven't been great. Sure he tries hard and tries to make a contest but he lacks the power at this stage to take a big grab and doesn't have the tank to run all day, which in this day and age, you need. Should we insist on playing him more to see if he comes good or start looking at another tall option and developing him in the vfl? Perhaps Karnezis? I almost see them fighting for the same spot. I hope he does make it, maybe he just needs more time. |

Looked out of his depth last 2 games, he's better than that. Time for a run in the vfl to regain form. _________________ Formally frankiboy and FrankieGoesToCollingwood. |

Agree, has really given us ZERO in the last 2 games, reckon Moore could have done better.
Also, I know this is a Gault thread but how disappointing was Broomhead today? Seemed to look lazy and not chase at all... Back to the seconds I'm afraid. _________________ There is Collingwood and then the rest. |

Agree - too easily pushed aside. More time in the VFL and on the weights. _________________ If you used to barrack for the 'Pies, you never barracked for the 'Pies. |

My thought is play the kid. Essendon has 3 tall defenders in Hurley, Hooker and Fletcher. He kept Fletcher accountable.
I look at players like Westhoff who got extended runs while contributing far call on the stats sheet and came good with the experience. I think he has more upside than White so keep him in the team until he clearly doesn't warrant selection. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Not a good day for tall forwards it has to be said but Corey Gault didn't get much of it. Very early days for him. Let him have the next game or two I say. _________________ woodsmen rule |

He's not out of his depth. We need to keep playing him. He gets to contests and that's all you need to ask of him at the moment. At some point he will start clunking marks and kick goals. Just need to have a bit of patience. |

If Witts and Moore get through unscathed tomorrow and do enough then they should come in for Gault and White who have done precious little the last 2 weeks.
Moore to play forward. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

FFS.
Broomhead needs continuity at senior level. Knee jerk reactions such as dropping him after a quiet game after a very good game the week before will do precisely nothing for his development as a player.
Give him regular game time instead of dropping him and reinstating him all the time and it'll pay dividends for the club in the long run. He has the ability (and some) to be a star for us so cut him some slack. |

I agree. Play the kid until an alternative tall demands his spot. That could be this week if Witts tears up the VFL, so be it. Or it could be a couple of rounds down the track. Or he could start to contribute as some of us think he can. |

I think people sometimes just undervalue some of the work they do that doesn't garner stats. Happy to have both White and Gault in the team at the moment. |

They were the weakest links in today's game IMO and winning shouldn't stop sides looking to improve further.
Fletcher was one of Essendon's better players.
Gault didn't exactly bang down the door over summer and doesn't have the runs on the board to escape demotion after 2 quite matches I wouldn't have thought.
It wont hurt him to go back to the VFL and clunk some marks and kick a few. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |
