He may be right, but it's totally irrelevant to the budget. Hockey really is a goose and Abbott should've got him away from treasury when he had a chance. He's a big, chunky anchor around the neck of this government and they're going to drown as long as it's hanging there.

Joe Hackney's reference to living to 150 is so he change the pension age to 110 to save money. The Born to Rule mob have a bunch of bean counters trying to run a country. They are clueless.

WTF?

By the time a child born today reaches 50, never mind 150, the whole world will have long since become unlivable under Abbott's insane climate policy.

Talk about short-sighted, dangerous and stupid, he has gone way beyond short-sighted, dangerous and stupid and is entering nameless uncharted territory.

And so it begins, cutting RDNS numbers can only adversely affect those who rely on them!

Aren't YOU glad you voted for the LNP?

Quote:
Nursing jobs are under threat as the Royal District Nursing Service (RDNS) moves to cut 84 positions.

RDNS, Australia’s oldest and largest home nursing and health care services organisation, announced the redundancies as part of a major restructure.

The organisation will replace its 14 Melbourne sites with four regional hubs, roll out mobile local nursing care teams and downsize its head office, with management, consultant, coordinator and administrative positions set to be axed from April 30.

Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF) Victorian Branch assistant secretary Paul Gilbert said a state-wide meeting of RDNS members has been organised for Wednesday, January 28.

“We will ensure our members are heard and supported,”
he said.

The branch believes the shake up will include a significant drop in the number of grade four registered nursing positions, while clinical nurse consultant jobs will be reduced and coordinator clinical services roles will be completely removed.

“We are continuing to work through the impact of the changes set out by the RDNS, which will see 149 positions made redundant - with those staff fighting over 65 new roles, leaving 84 people without a job,” Mr Gilbert said.

“Although we are still working through the impact on our members, we know that staff changes on this scale will have a significant negative impact on our members’ lives, staff morale and patient care.

“We certainly do not agree with the characterisation of nurses in centre manager, supervisor and consultant roles as ‘back office staff’, and know losing those senior nurses will impact on the quality of nursing care for which RDNS has such a worthy record.”

In a statement, RDNS Victorian general manager Fiona Hearn said the overhaul will deliver better back-up to frontline nurses and improved services to clients.

Under the changes, nurses in mobile local care teams will start and finish work in their area without being required to report into an office.

“We have trialled these new ways of working, including local area teams, and they have proven popular and effective,” Ms Hearn said.

“And equipping nurses with better technological tools and making clinical experts in areas like wound care and aged care available at each of our new regional hubs will also benefit clients.”

Ms Hearn said the restructure reflected changes in client needs and technology alongside industry reform, funding models and competitive forces.

“Where redeployment is not possible and there is no other option but redundancy, staff will be treated respectfully and fairly with redundancy packages and access to personal and career counselling.”

RDNS provides home nursing and health care to more than 9500 people across Melbourne, parts of regional Victoria, New South Wales and New

Isn't nursing a state issue? This would be on the new Labor government wouldn't it?

Or is this a private enterprise? In which case, it's just their own business decision.

In that case, carry on. Laughing

Our constitution seems to only be an advisory document these days anyway.

Not quite.

Quote:
RDNS is an independent not-for-profit organisation incorporated under the Australian Securities and Investment Commission.

We are very fortunate to receive funding from a number of sources, which allows us to carry on caring for the health of the community. The majority of our services are funded through the Department of Human Services Home and Community Care (HACC) Program. The funds for this program are provided by both Federal and State governments, and are supplemented by client fees set by the Department.

Other sources of funding include fee-for-services programs, donations, bequests, sponsorships, corporate partnerships and fundraising.

The bulk of the funding for HACC is from and administered by the Feds.

They're a private organisation who make their own decisions on how they're structured and there's no indication in that article that they're changing their structure because of a reduction in Federal funding.

If there was the remotest link, the ANMF would be shouting it from the rooftops.

If that makes you feel better when they tell a loved one they cannot attend to them, good for you.

If it makes you feel better to blame Abbott for it, go for your life, good for you.

The changes are largely to back of house roles anyway and according to the RDNS spokesperson they're doing it to improve the quality of service, they aren't cutting patient facing services at all. See their media release.
http://www.rdns.com.au/public/files/files/Media%20release_clients%20to%20benefit%20from%20RDNS%20shakeup_21January2015.pdf

But, like I said, you believe whatever the hell you want. Pardon me for introducing a modicum of reality into your hallucination, I'll try to not let it happen again.
