Seems reasonable to me.
Your basic role in the cheersquad is to cheer loudly, passionately and without abuse.
Not sure I understand the media ban fully but I'm sure there is good reason. |

Oh John Wren
It must be so satisfying knowing you are
better at understanding the world of footy
better than a mere mortal in myself.
Your comment, as usual, is predictable.

Perhaps the real problem here is the cheersquad's affiliation with the club. That may have made sense when they were putting banners together, but is it really necessary any more? _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Huh?? WTF are you on? If you want to get a reserved seat in the designated cheersquad area, you follow the club rules for the cheersquad.
If you don't like those rules, sit somewhere else. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

The real problem is the new modern curse.
Corporations, Governments, Clubs and other organisations
want control over everything.
To stop litigation and any adverse media stories
they must have absolute control.
Hence, codes of conducts etc...become pages and pages
of conditions, rules etc....
FfS it is a cheer squad not a business.
It is just so frigging boring putting up with
these over reactions. _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |

Two things on view here. One is seeing how Australians just love to suck on the nanny state teat, whether the nanny is government or corporate doesn't seem to matter. Rules, rules, rules, ban it, 'what's the problem', 'seems reasonable' 'nothing to hide'. Second is the flaccid compliance.
Bullshit.
Death by a thousand cuts to the Australia I love.
Our Cheer squad and general vibe has been going downhill for a while. Soon we'll be sitting politely applauding like the pussy 'go dees' Melbourne fans. Can't get too passionate or some wanker will call the hotline and you'll be put out on your arse.
When the Adelaide teams have US covered for passion and barracking then something is very, very $£$%^%%$ wrong. |

How can you be passionate with a huge
rule book in one hand a 7 dollar light beer
in the other and a big sign saying text anti
social behaviour staring you in the face.

What he said.
The willingness of Australians to meekly accept authority without question makes me wonder whether we really are a nation of former convicts, or whether we are really a nation of former gaolers. Subservience to authority is a sad and dangerous phenomenon. |

I'm not interested in being a member of the cheersquad, so that doesn't apply to me. I just think it's sad going to games and seeing no passion or activity behind the goals. I don't think these new rules will improve that. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Belongs to the text anti behaviour to...
Can't speak to the media without club permission?
Get a working with children's check?
Does that mean in future that all supporters
who go to a game of footy should get the check?
This is typical of Australia 2014.
Complete overkill in trying to cover
any, no matter how remote issue that may arise.
I like the last one, after about 20 conditions
have fun!!!!!
I won't be joining! |
I'm with thompsoc on this. One might well wonder how loud, passionate cheersquads ever existed in the past. A working with children check is clearly ridiculous—how is sitting in the cheersquad any different to sitting on a train or going to an all ages music concert? As for the abuse, I understand not wanting fans to bag players or use inappropriate language in front of children, but these restrictions will make the cheer squad quieter and more hesitant. It's just basic human psychology. Better to ban under 16s from the cheersquad area, imho.
As for not wanting them to talk to the media, what a load of rubbish. Authoritarianism knows no bounds. |
No wonder we have the worst cheer squad in the business. I kid you not, St Kilda has a better more passionate cheer squad than us.
I think I recall Eddie saying at the Fan Forum that things were going to change. That fun and passion would be brought back to the footy. No they haven't. Don't expect me to join. _________________ Rain or hail, I wag my tail |

How about an active area like in the soccer. If you sit in that area expect standing, singing and chanting.
A Cheersquad criteria like that that doesn't take into consideration those who want to cheer loudly, etc and be more about control is never going to work.
The soccer ends have more independence. _________________ Sydney Collingwood Supporters Club
