OK, granted. But read this from the first link:
Quote: | This ideology aims firstly to reestablish a system of governance known as the Caliphate–an Islamic form of government that first came into being after Muhammad's death under Abu Bakr and saw its last manifestation in the Ottoman Empire–across the entire Muslim world. From there, the intention is to spread the Caliphate across the entire world. |
So yeah, you might call this the "long game". _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace

I could understand how [quotestui magpie][quoteDavid][quoteJezza]The Islamic State would want to under certain circumstances. |

Yeah, long game but Jezza is and was 100% correct, the end goal is a Islamic world.
The point then isn't about how feasible that is but what it says about their mindset and keep in mind that when they say Islamic they mean their particular narrow interpretation of "Islam". So everyone who isn't onboard with them is an infidel and up for being killed. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Someone else can post and comment on the Hugh White article. Too depressingly familiar for me to linger over. (Just deleted a long post before submitting it; why even f^%%$ng bother?). _________________ In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.

Welcome to the Ginger Jihadist.
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/world/jihadist-abdullah-elmir-condemned-by-australian-leaders-and-muslim-community/story-fni0xs61-1227098364603
So many different issues wrapped up in one story and video.
Firstly, a 17 year old kid has managed to find his way to Syria from the Sydney burbs and join up with ISIS. What is the attraction for these kids? The parents and families don't seem to be fundamentalist nutjobs?
Secondly, the kid makes it clear in his obviously scripted speech (take note David) that they want to see the black ISIS flag flying in Australia, on Buckingham Palace, on the white house etc.
Thirdly, great to see the general condemnation of this mob from the mainstream Islamic leaders and general people. That message needs to keep being hammered the same way our politicians refer to them as a terrorist organisation, cult, everything except Islamic. They can call themselves an Islamic movement, I can call myself an elm tree, doesn't make it happen. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

^ Apparently his father called him a stupid idiot. A cross bencher called him a dickhead. Many muslim groups have got more organised now & have condemned the video & isis. What was interesting today on radio national was an interview with a representative of ? a women's muslim group, a lawyer. She spoke about other muslim youngsters going over then realising OMG (well perhaps OM Allah) what the f*ck have I done & not being able to get out of there. The issue then being they may well be stateless if their passports are cancelled & they are just kids. (I'm not defending the position but trying to explain her point of view).
She was then asked who's responsible then for kids like the idiot in question. Was it his parents?, muslims per se?, teachers? etc. The lawyers response was "all of us". That didn't sit too well with me. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough†Kinky Friedman |
