Speaking of shirt fronts, perhaps Two Tier Tony can wear this to the meeting:

This is Abbott at his stupidest!
Tony (as foreigner) knows very little Aussie rules
A shirt-front is designed to catch an opponent totally un-wares.
Telegraphing it defeats the purpose.
We are a small power, Russia is a great one (no amount of jingoism can change that).
Putin will come here G20 summit fully prepared to wreak havoc with Australia in any way it can.
Abbott could do worse than learn a little about the Great Game if he want's Putin to take him in any way seriously!

(Our English captain of tEAM aUSTRALIA needs to get his sporting terms right and learn how to play the game!
His hospital passes and helicopter kicks are doing Australia a whole World of harm!) |

Putin is a shortarse but he's a Judo black belt. Tone was a heavyweight boxer back in his Uni days.
I'd pay to see this one, get them in a cage together, classic striker vs grappler match up. |

Your a complete "drop-kick"^^^.
Australia is not a heavy-weight boxer.
We stand to lose a lot (and gain nothing) by this idiotic school boy bravado!
~
Russia and China signed a major new trade deal just a few hours ago.
http://www.dw.de/russia-and-china-sign-major-trade-agreements/av-17994439
Russia is to sell the Chinese (our major consumer) iron-ore, wheat beef and natural gas.
In return they get easy access to Chinese credit to build the roads, rails and pipes-lines and greater say in who the Chinese do deals with.
This trade deal will hurt us big time!!!

I'd like to see it too. Putin makes the big macho tough guy routine, he's a thug and the attitude of Russia to Australia is typical European snobbery. Tone is 10cm taller and 6 years younger, I'll put $10 on Bud.
As an aside, the promise to "shirtfront" Vlad may not be quite as dumb as it seems.
Quote: | Prime Minister Tony Abbott has a problem with half of Australia thinking to “shirt-front” means one thing and half thinking it’s something else.
This follows the lines of the most embedded rift through the nation: Football codes.
This divide is important because the Prime Minister has promised to shirtfront Russian President Putin when he visits Australia in November for the G20 summit.

“I’m going to shirt-front Mr Putin,” the Prime Minister said during a media conference in Central Queensland.
“You bet you are, you bet I am. I am going to be saying to Mr Putin Australians were murdered (in the Malaysian Airlines tragedy in Ukraine).”
Mr Abbott was speaking figuratively of course about his actions. He won’t actually lay a violent hand on the macho Russian.
But definitions are important. We have to know how serious was his figurative threat to understand how serious he will be with the Russian leader.
In AFL states, to shirtfront means to charge a rival player full pelt and hit them so hard they drop to the ground heavily. Apparently if a football is involved in this encounter it is only incidental and certainly not necessary.

In rugby territory – league and union, Mr Abbott’s game – to shirtfront means to grab by the coat lapels, or indeed the front of a shirt, and vigorously challenge.
So, if the Prime Minister threatening to metaphorically slam the Russian President into the ground? Or simply to muss up his shirt? In terminology Mr Abbott is most familiar with, probably the latter. |

That actually makes more sense when you put it in that context, but I'm sure there's plenty of people happy to assume Tone is so dumb he actually threatened literal physical violence on a foreign leader.
Speaking of dumb, Jacqui Mutton is at it again. The Bogan queen of the southern Island thinks that Little Bill and Tone should stop with the Tesserone and that Valamir Pute is a good guy. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

It's even dumber! ^^^
Once again the English "rugger" captain (of tEAM Australia) proves he only wants to be understood by 1/2 the country.
The dummy-half!

Abbott... "If I can borrow a sporting metaphor, I will shirt-front Putin. "
It's not a metaphor, it's an analogy.
