I thought it was fitting time to make a new thread for the upcoming season as it officially begins next weekend!
Details of this upcoming season:
Promoted teams: Burnley, Leicester City and QPR
Relegated teams: Cardiff City, Fulham and Norwich City
It would be great to hear people's thoughts on the upcoming season and who they think will win the title, improve or potentially decline as a result of a number of factors such as transfers and managerial changes. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 |

I cannot bring myself to post on here anymore...
With my beloved team sitting 22nd in the Championship, it's all doom & gloom. I could go on a rant about how the billionaire playboy clubs have sucked the soul out of the competition and forced middle range clubs into an ever increasing debt spiral in order to even try to compete....but I know no one gives a rats.
Even my Scottish side Hibs are suffering in third last in the second tier after their relegation.
What's a hundred years of being at the forefront worth now that you are broke and washed up?
I will just quietly sulk and get some perverse enjoyment out of every time Rangers and Manure stuff up.
Sayonara, Adios, Adieu.

Nice article. But you mentioned Glasgow Rangers.
Here is the Scottish perspective on Mike Ashley.
Ashley (English self-made billionaire) owns 5% of the stock of Rangers. However no club in the UK has suffered more at the hands of shonky, corrupt business types attempting to inflate their own private businesses and egos through football club ownership than Glasgow Rangers.
Rangers were bankrupted, forced into administration and then legally liquidated. They, unlike any other club in the UK, were immediately relegated three divisions.
They have clawed their way back from the fourth tier up to the second. They still average crowds of 45,000. However they have not made the expected
start to this season. They are currently 6 points behind Hearts in the race for the one promotion spot. Their manager, Ally McCoist is facing just the same fan protests as Pardew is at Newcastle. Make no mistake, Rangers is still a club in some turmoil. The fans have been inundated with news over the machinations of football mis-governance and view all cashed up messiahs with justifiable skepticism. The SFA has rule that no owner of a football club
can own any more than 10% of another club. So Ashley will need to sell out of Newcastle before upping his stake in the west end of Glasgow.
So why would Ashley bother with Rangers?
It will be much cheaper to own them than any EPL club. If Ashley sells Newcastle and buys control of Rangers he will make a huge profit. Rangers are a massive club, in many respects a bigger club than Newcastle. All going well Rangers should easily make Europe every year, fill their stadium, win Scottish trophies and once financially stable, they can generate huge income.
But they know fully well who Ashley is and what he has done at Newcastle. At the moment Ashley is at the forefront of massive protests by Rangers fans.
Rangers fans are furious that the Board sold the naming rights of Ibrox Park to Ashley's Sports Direct company for seven years for the princely sum of 1 per year!
Due to the injection of Ashley's cash to get 5% ownership, the Rangers Board's gift was sign away their grounds name.
Rangers fans are furious!
Anti-Board and anti-Ashley demonstrations have been staged outside Ibrox, the fans association have issued an ultimatum that Ashley's company name be removed by October 11 or they will not renew their memberships and they will also organize a Scotland wide boycott of all Sports Direct stores.
Rangers need financial stability. They have suffered more than any other club in the UK, but Ashley is not the answer. Certainly not now that thousands of 'Gers fans are in open protest about his dealings with the club already. |
