Post subject: Crows Vs Magpise No Live telecastReply with quote

Well I have sent a email of objection to the AFL, regarding the Adelaide Vs Collingwood game not been shown live, this is what they had to say:

"Dear Michael,

I thank you for taking the time to place your concerns into writing. The AFL appreciates all feedback which we receive from our supporters and take on board your comments.

As you would be aware the Seven Network have elected to show the Adelaide v Collingwood match live on their C7 Channel and it will be shown as a delayed telecast back into Melbourne.

As Collingwood supporter I understand your frustration with the delayed telecast on free to air. As you would understand, the AFL and the Seven Network have a commercial agreement where by they have the ultimate right to right to determine which AFL matches are shown in the various capital city markets.

We are more than aware of the number of AFL supporters based in Melbourne and do all we can to convince broadcasters - television and radio - to provide as much exposure as possible for our various clubs in all their capital city markets.
As you would be aware it not always possible to completely satisfy the needs of supporters of all 16 clubs each week, but we will do all can.

The decision to broadcast a Rugby match instead an AFL match is obviously not one which the AFL makes. Clearly, it is the right of the Seven Network to determine programming of their station. As a result of this decision, the Adelaide v Collingwood match will be telecast live on C7.

Under our new broadcasting arrnagements which will apply form 2002, all matches will be shown live with five matches being shown on free to air (to be shared by the Nine and Ten Networks) and the remaining three on Foxtel. This agreement will see increased coverage of all AFL matches.

Our Radio Rights Agreements also expire a the end of this year and we will review the coverage of games in all capital city markets before we renew our Radio Rights for 2002 and beyond.

In the mean time, we will take every step possible to encourage televsion and radio broadcasters to provide as full a service as possible but the nature of our agreements does allow our television and radio broadcasters to ultimately make the decision about what whatmatch they will cover.

I again thank you for your time.

Kind Regards,

Meaghan Telford

AFL Media."

Why didn't you send one to Channel 7? Like the guy at the AFL said - Ch7 make the decision to show the rugby..

Good Old Collingwood Forever...
