Post subject: NO Maxy, Ball, Goldy ??- WE must recruit some experience ! | |
|
With Maxy gone, now Luke Ball, and perhaps Goldy leaving, the Magpies are going to obviously be a very, very young team next season, possibly the youngest team. Now I love all our kids, we have some wonderful kids at the club, they are the future of some great times ahead for us, a terrific future. ! However, aside from swan and Pendles, and Harry, Sidey, our experience (McCaffer gone for year now, Reid ? Brown ?) level in the team will be way, way down. I reckon its imperative we recruit some experienced guys into our very young team, and I have one I can think of all ready to come, and that's Ryan Okeefe, the ex swannie champ.
I reckon he wants to play one more year, and we could make him a nice offer, for one season, his vast experience would be invaluable, to our very young baby Pies. Hed be more than handy downback too, I say get him, and somebody who struggles to get a game at the Hawks, Norf, Dons or Suns maybe, anyone you can come up with. !

Goes against everything Bucks has been driving for the past 3 years. If they're not going to be apart of 2017 or onwards, then they aren't getting to Collingwood. The only way I could see O'Keefe getting a game anywhere would be as a tagger, someone who is not going to be in the critical make up up of team structure.
Expect to see us recruiting a more mature aged A-grade player once we're on the eve of top-4 status. To do it now would be a waste in my opinion. |

now you are just being a parrot dave. i'm not sure what you don't understand in a coach wanting to recruit certain players to deploy his game style. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

Get rid of that spud Lappin and recruit O'Keefe as a playing forward coach for one year with him moving into a full time forward coach in 2016.
Like what they did with Hudson. |

youth, youth and more youth is what we want at this stage. We are not topping up for a tilt at the flag anytime soon.
besides, recruiting experienced players has been a failure for us lately.

Why let go of Ball, who is one of us and a real professional in order to pick up O'keefe?
Not great for culture.
Take your point on experience though. Surprised we let Ball go accordingly. Would have been valuable to educate Adams, Thomas et alia next season. _________________ One team, one dream - the Pies and this year's premiership |

Game tonight demonstrated why Luke Ball would get limited opportunities in 2015. Battled his arse off yet didn't influence the game. Agree we'll miss his leadership but it's not much of an advantage to the team if he's not getting senior games. |

But Blair stays on for two more years? Blair has less influence and less leadership. _________________ Fighting against the objectification of woman. |

Bucks reckons Goldsack is bemused at the articles in the paper today about him leaving.
Bucks thinks we'll keep him. _________________ Sydney Collingwood Supporters Club

Whether we need more experience or not will come down to one question: how close are we to seriously challenging?
Topping up is only worth doing when you are seriously close to being a serious challenger. 2009-2010 was the pinpoint perfect time for us. Now? We look a bit further away than that and it may be too early for a top up. It may be better to take some more medicine and stick with the youth.
Being one of the bigger clubs and an attractive destination for FAs brings its challenges. Every year we'll have a few players knocking on our door. Sometimes though the prudent thing is not to answer. Continually bringing in new free agents is not good for any club. They are always overpaid, add to instability and take ownership away from the younger natives on the list, giving less opportunity for us to develop our own leaders. I think this year is one where it might be best to knock back any but the most irresistible FAs. _________________ Well done boys! |
