Post subject: Jeff Kennett: Time for Eddie to stand down as President | |
|
Quote: | FORMER Hawthorn president Jeff Kennett says the time has come for Eddie McGuire to stand down as Collingwood president.
McGuire, who was elected president of the Magpies when they were dwindling at the bottom of the AFL ladder and in financial trouble, has helped his beloved club return to powerhouse status over the past 16 years, which included a premiership in 2010.
However the Pies have suffered a form slump during the second half of this season and are likely to miss the finals for the first time in nine years.
Kennett said Collingwood needed a fresh face in the president’s chair. |
I tend to agree a Bit with Kennett.
The club at the Moment is a tad Stale in my mind.
And some new people in might not be the Worse Idea in the World.
Though it is Jeff Kennett;)

He'll stand down before he has to sack Buckley next year IMO. _________________ Defender...........

It's time for Kennet to realise that he is actually irrelevant and STFU. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Good call.
Eddie has done a great job, but he is not president for life.
Fresh face new ideas. Is the way to go. |

Jeff Kennett wants him gone?
That's a great endorsement to stay. |

Memo Defender:
Eddie is President.
It's an unpaid position.
He doesn't actually play for the team or anything.
He brings in millions of dollars via smart sponsorship deals.
He orchestrated our MCG deal and the move to Olympic Park.
He's not finished yet although it seems you are pretty close. _________________ After the epic draw comes the decisive knockout!
Collingwood rules the world again and Mick Malthouse fulfils his destiny with the twenty ten premiership and can you hear the people sing! |

Don't worry Neil, a man of ghe world like Defender could easily replace the sponsors we would loose when Eddie leaves. Defender has all the moves.
So once You rid us of Eddie, what is your nexr move Defender? |

No suitable replacements you think? Maybe we should advertise the position.
President wanted for major football club, 'must be able to keep your $£$%^%%$ ass out of football department decisions', and must have teeth.
Sorry mate, that puts you out. _________________ Defender...........

Nearly 20 years ago a premiership winning president stepped down mainly because the board would not back his plan to recruit Tony Lockett.
Gee we did great after that, didn't we??
If you are going to get rid of a coach or a president, you have to replace them with somebody. Who is out there?
Unless there is a New Magpies type coup in the offing, leave the guy alone.
Both Macallister and McGuire stepped in when Collingwood were at their lowest ebb and they got them going again.
Coaches of necessity, and Prime Ministers, live on crisis management. They have to. Otherwise Buckenara would still be coaching the Swans and Kevin or John would still be PM. It is different for a sporting club administration. they thrive on stability. |
