As some of us here like to keep an eye on where our prodigal sons are at, I thought this might be a good thread to post updates.
Jonathon Ceglar has played the last two games for the Hawks, but is struggling to hold down a regular spot in the ruck. Even playing in that team is a big achievement, though, and from the little I saw of the GWS game on the weekend he actually competes pretty well and can take a good contested mark.
Tom Young seems to have fallen out of favour down at the Western Bulldogs. 15 games last year, including an important goal in their upset win over Carlton (if I recall correctly), but only played three games so far this year. Probably one of those players who will always be on the fringes, but I'd love to see him become a regular unfashionable defender/stopper like Toovey.
Jackson Paine just played in his first win for Brisbane on the weekend but, after kicking the opening goal of the game, had a shocker with only four disposals. I guess it wouldn't be too hard to get a game with the Lions right now, but I hope he can make something of himself up there.
Anyone noticed any other ex-Pies running around this year? We all know about Dawes, Thomas, the Shaws and Wellingham—though it'd be good to monitor their progress too—but some others worth keeping an eye on are Cameron Wood (Carlton), Danny Stanley (Gold Coast) and James Podsiadly (Adelaide). Have I missed anyone? _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace

I Think I read Paine got dropped for this week. That's not a great endorsement after a rare win. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Yeah, I'm surprised KB is still around. I thought Gollum fell into Mount Doom at the end of LOTR. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Wellingham dropped again at WCE. His trademarks inconsistency seems to have stayed with him. _________________ Buzz

Ceglar kicked a couple of vital goals against Carlton on Friday night. Wonder if we'll ever have cause to regret trading him? I guess it would have been hard for him to break in with Witts and Grundy around, so perhaps it was a win-win. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Wellingham did play and was one of their best with 26 disposals. _________________ Well done boys! |

Welles had a cracking game. Ceglar his best game and yes, I think we will live to regret that one. _________________ Buon Giorno |

^^^ Well, we may, Big T - but it certainly looked the correct call at the time. He really showed very little at all in the seconds, even to suggest that he might be a competent VFL player, in his play at Collingwood. |
